Each Search Engine has a crawler or spider which crawls through millions of websites everyday and constantly adds them to their databases. Very complex algorithm is used to rank a website.


Example 1: If I want to buy a diamond ring I will quickly type diamond ring in http//:www.google.com here I may get millions of results for my keyword “Diamond ring”

Now I want to narrow my search option: If I want to buy from New york stores I can type “Diamond ring in New york” instead of just typing Diamond ring.

Example 2: If I want Search engine optimization or Seo service for my website I will type “seo” in google again I may get millions of results for my keyword “Seo”

Now I want to narrow my search option:
If I want Search engine optimization or Seo service for my website from a company based in India I will look for “Seo India”

Again you can notice that there is a variation in search results.

Choosing the right keyword or phrase is an art that an expert seo consultant can only advice. Most website owner try to optimize their own webpage and end up getting into unfair Search engine optimization practice. 90% website owner are not aware that
Unfair “seo” practice will give them a google death sentence or google ban.

So I would advice select the best performing keyword for your product or service.

Example: If you deal in “wedding rings” than you should target a keyword which is broader and sensible. Like “shop wedding ring” potential customer can easily think of such keyword. As the customer wants to buy a “wedding ring” shop wedding ring makes more sense. Although “wedding ring ” is the best keyword but due to heavy competition it is not recommended in an early stage of Search engine optimization.

Remember: Unethical “SEO” practices cannot give you a mileage in Google, Yahoo, or Msn

Re: Traffic! How do you get it? - I agree, [i:1z2pskgt]"The solution before getting traffic, is RESEARCH"[/i:1z2pskgt]. "Keywords" are the source of traffic and its completely true that we should do a bit of research before crafting an article. Now a days, i see like its quite easy to rank well for long tail keywords esp. on Google because of the "freshness" in serp. The newly indexed articles are placed above the older articles to show fresh content to the user. Its advantage too but the question is, how long you stay in top position ?
Keywords - Keywords in your URL are good, but you also need to include these in headings on your pages. If you were going to search Google for this content, what words would you use? What common words would people use in a search engine if they wanted to find your site? You don't need to overdo the headers, just add a couple to each page and especially on your home page to attract search engines. I think someone also mentioned listing your site in directories. This is good and make sure to list your site under beauty - this should attract people that want to find you. Trading links with sites is good and especially sites that attract the people you want to bring onto your site. Miss Shri
