Internet Guerilla Marketing Tactics

Guerilla marketing is basically the use of more radical methods to gain traffic to your website and generate sales and profits. The guerilla marketer is usually one of the most active marketers because, as a marketing strategy, guerilla marketing tends to lean preference towards spending time and energy rather than money. Often seen as the ideal way for new ventures to build a solid foundation, guerilla marketing strategies can be implemented on any site of any age and produce very good results.

1 – Appealing Content

Make your content as appealing, thorough, invaluable, and emotional to visitors as possible. Your content will be your driving factor and no matter how good the marketing tactics you use, bad content will always hold you back. By providing fresh content that visitors can re-use, or by providing regular updates to your content, your visitors will continue to return to your site and be more liable to make a purchase and to promote your site for you by word of mouth.

2 – Don’t Go Overboard

Don’t overdo the addition of content. Video clips are great and creating your own can create a viral buzz like very few methods of online branding. However, too many clips, and too much content without very good planning can lead to a complete overload. Not only do you run the risk of overloading a server, but too much content can make it difficult for visitors to find the content they are most interested in seeing.

3 – Become A Blogger

Start blogging as soon as you’re online. Even without any kind of search engine optimization or other marketing technique, a blog that includes regular posts and relevant content will drive traffic to your website. Allow comments, even if moderated, and try to build a reputation within your industry. Relevant blog posts invariably attract long tail searches and by posting daily, a blog can generate a huge amount of interest.

4 – Become An Integral Part Of Your Industry

Get involved with your industry. Pay more than a keen interest in the industry in which you operate and you will reap the rewards. Salesmen and directors have been using networking as a method to generate leads for many years now, and the increase in popularity of social media makes this all the more pertinent to effective online guerilla marketing. Post useful and relevant comments on blogs, forums, and other websites, and don’t forget to include a link in your signature or wherever else it may be allowed.

5 – Keep It Ethical

Guerilla marketing is often coined as using unorthodox methods to drive traffic. Unorthodox doesn’t, in this context, mean unethical. Abide by the rules of the sites you frequent, employ common social network etiquette and generally be an approachable member of your online community and your reputation will spread; more people will pay an interest in what you have to say, they will become more likely to visit your website, and they will be more inclined to purchase your product or service.

Re: What I Enjoyed Reading This Week - June 4 Re: What I Enjoyed Reading This Week - June 4 - Hi Evan, I just joined this forum and looking forward to positive interactions. I'd say great collection of weekly reads. My top two picks from your list are 4 Facebook Marketing Tactics and 8 Brands That Have Found Success on FB - very interesting and informative resources especially for entrepreneurs who want to get the most out of online marketing. Thanks, Melanie James
Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
Internet Marketing Conference on SLife Internet Marketing Conference on SLife - I've been trying to log in but it keeps crashing.. anyways.. a friend of mine in BC plans on holding Internet Marketing Conferences on SecondLife and have the same top internet marketers that would normally be in Live Internet Marketing conference speak. Income will be generated from admission charges, product sales during breaks, sponsor tables, etc etc.. Just to get the ideas flowing in your head that anything you can do in the real world can be replicated in SL. There is no planned date as of yet for this conference.
Re: Hi from a Manhattan coach Re: Hi from a Manhattan coach - Hi Julie, Welcome to the forum, it's great to have you here and thank you for telling us a little about yourself. You sound like a very enthusiastic person who likes what she does and in Internet Marketing that is very important and you also sound like a 'people person' which is great. Internet Marketing is time consuming and challenging but can also be extremely rewarding and hopefully profitable. I don't know how many forums you have signed up to but this is one of the best. The support and guidance you get here is what makes it the success that it is but as I am sure you know from looking at the side bar that there are many aspects of business that are catered for here which will help you along the way, best wishes, Mal.
Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? - Hi Kevin, I have to agree with Tanny. All forums are unique in their own way, but doesn't mean that one is better than the other. What you might get out of one forum, you may not get from another. For instance, the WF focuses on Internet Marketing, while this forum focuses on Entrepreneurship. Each has their own set of benefits. I don't think you can really compare one to the other, unless of course they focused on the same topic. I have learned a lot from this forum, stuff I would never have gotten from the WF. With that being said, I've learned a lot from the WF, specifically since I need to know about Internet Marketing and running an online business. The addition of the Online Business forum here will help, and Jeff is doing a great job as moderator.
