Flash Sites and External Link Campaigns
Flash Sites and External Link Campaigns
When you look at it from that viewpoint, external linking is imperative to let the search engines into your site because as you know search engine spiders can not follow links that are within flash scripts. So you have a site that is designed with flash one of the ways a spider can get into the site to see and index the pages are by following links into the site that are placed on other sites that they can crawl effectively.
So does this mean that doing a lot of links on random sites, as long as they are quality sites would be a good thing? Yes and No. As long as you can individually engineer each link to have
different “href text” because as you know, or maybe you don’t know, flooding the search engines with a lot of links that have the same “href text” will throw up a red flag within the algorithm as you spamming the search engines and you will get penalized.
Now flash sites bring up another tangent that I was thinking about. Even if you get the spider into a page the search engines can’t see what’s inside that page because again, they can’t read flash files. So then I guess that takes us back to the fact that external link campaigns for flash sites would only be to gain page rank.
So if flash sites are hard for the search engines to find and rank, therefore hard for a person looking for information contained on the flash site about your business. What do flash sites get you and is there a good way to design a flash based site?
Ok I have come to the end of my thought until I can come to a conclusion about this question without just going on a hunch that I have.

There are times that I am just looking through sites trying to figure things out and wondering why a site is engineered in a certain way, when in fact that say way its put together is drastically hindering its organic rankings and SEO. For example I was looking at a pure flash site and it got me thinking about why external link campaigns are so important, but not from a page rank standpoint but more from a search engine visibility and crawling standpoint.
