Your Company's Name and SEO
Written by: Sarah ChantigianArticle Overview: I hear this question quite often. Sometimes before starting an SEO project my clients will call and tell me how important it is to rank #1 in Google under "my xyz company". But just how important is it to have your company name included in Search Engine Optimization?

Your Company's Name and SEO
Let's first discuss what parts of SEO we are referring to. The title tag for instance is usually where I see people make this mistake. The title tag (where you see the title on top of your internet browser and the first thing you see in a search engine result) is by far one of the most important areas of your site when it comes to good search engine marketing. Many people relate this area to a store sign.
If your company's name for example is "Purple Widgets, Inc" and your main product is Purple Widgets, then yes, it would be helpful for your name to be included within the SEO. If your company's name is "Acme" then having your name as a main word in your title tag isn't a good idea.
Some argue that visitors may see their name on a company truck or sign but don't know the URL. So they go to their search engine and type in the name of the company. While this can happen, it still doesn't constitute having the name within the Title Tag if it is not related to the product or service you are selling.
Where can you add it? Often the content of your web pages tend to speak about your company. For example, the "about us" page that most designers include usually includes the business name enough in the content for a search engine to pick up. Also, the footer or bottom navigation area of your web pages should have the company name listed. This should easily allow a search engine to rank your company name.
