If you’ve got a business and your business has a website, then you need to start thinking about developing an Internet marketing SEO strategy. Going online can be a great way to boost all of your traffic, sales, and profits, but only if you do it right. Spending thousands of dollars on creating a site that looks good will mean nothing if people aren’t then able to find it. And that is where search engine optimization comes in.
The results from a number of recent studies only serve to emphasize my point. First of all, it has been found that 40 percent of Internet users are more likely to click on a search engine listing than a banner ad. Indeed, banner and title ads only account for nine and seven percent of online sales respectively. At the top spot are search engine results, which account for 55 percent of all online sales. Meanwhile, 85 percent of high income and educated adults use search engines to find what they’re looking for online. If you’re not ranking on the top search engines, your business is missing out.
Your website shouldn’t just be there to look pretty and act as your company’s brochure, for you to refer people to when they ask you about it in person. Your website should be driving traffic and helping increase your business. And that’s why making sure your site is at the top of search engine results is just as important as having a well-designed site in the first place.
Developing an Internet marketing SEO strategy is a way for you to achieve high rankings in search engines, making it easier for prospective customers to find you. But whether you choose to go it alone, or decide to bring in some professional help to get you there, the basics of such a strategy are still the same.
First of all, you need to define your objectives. What are you looking to get out of making these changes, and what do you want the results of those changes to be? Admitting that changes need to be made is a good first step. But, you also need to have a clear idea of where you want to go in order to get there.
From there you want to perform a keyword or keyphrase analysis. What are your prospective customers looking for? What are those crucial words that you need to include in your code and on your site that will bring those customers to your doors instead of to your competitors? Also, look at the competition for those keywords and determine with which ones you have a better chance of reaching the top of search results. From there, you can begin to customize your HTML accordingly.
Your Internet marketing SEO strategy must not be complete after you’ve submitted your site to the search engines and directories. You need to stay on top of the game by continuing to do monthly maintenance and examining the reports you’re getting back, so that you can stay at the top of the search results.
