You should also be wary of how you designate your page addresses. While hyphens are a popular way to fill in spaces between words, the more you have, the more a page begins to look like spam. If your URL has more than give hyphens, get ready to be cut from search engines. Keep them as short and simple as possible; that will help people remember them more anyway.
While there are a number of positive steps you can take to improve your page rank, there are also a number of factors that can bring you down. Don’t create images with text instead of having actual text on your site – search engines won’t be able to read it. Don’t get linked to from disreputable sites, link farms, or sites that have no relevance to your own. It’s more about the quality of the backlinks you can get than the quantity.
