These days it seems as if there are more companies offering SEO services than there are websites themselves. Whatever firm you choose to go with to help optimize your site for the search engines, there is a standard amount of information that they should be reporting back to you. Before they even do anything, a firm should carry out an in-depth report about what areas your site needs improving on, and what could be done.
The very first thing an SEO firm should help you identify are the current barriers in place that are preventing your site from being indexed by the search engines. Is it your title tags? Your ATL descriptions? Your robots.txt file? Or maybe even just simply HTML syntax errors? Whatever it is, the firm you choose should help get to the bottom of why you’re not at the top.
Next, a company should help your perform a keyword analysis for your site. What are the top keywords or keyword phrases that people are searching for that should bring them to your site? If competition for one keyword is too great, what are some similar or perhaps regional specific keywords you could focus on infusing throughout your site?
A firm’s SEO services should also extend into the realm of backlink analysis. Where do you have current backlinks from? Are the sites that are linking to you reputable, or are they doing more harm than good? What would be the best related sites to link to, ones that share similar keywords as yours? They should be able to help you answer all of these questions.
Next, they should outline their strategy for fixing the above problems. How are they going to go about optimizing the site? What is the scope of their solutions? What are the proposed outcomes? When should you be able to see results?
But SEO should be a one on one job. If you hire a firm to help you through it, you want to find someone who will be willing to work with you, and take into account your own suggestions or preferences. And it should never be just a one-time deal.
Because search engine algorithms are constantly changing, so too does your SEO strategy and your website design need to be updated on a regular basis. Any reputable optimization firm will understand that meeting with their clients on perhaps a monthly basis will ensure that they continue to succeed in the long run. Through analyzing site traffic reports, search engine progress reports and the like, a firm should stay with you at every step of your SEO way.
SEO services can often be vast and varied. Depending on which firm you select, you never know what you’re going to get. But the above steps should be considered the very basics and the fundamentals. If you are not getting those, then you aren’t getting what you deserve, and you definitely aren’t getting what you need in order maximize your search engine optimization.
