The Value of Blog Commenting

I think that I can pinpoint 2 different ways in which blog commenting can help your blog grow into what you want it to become. Here they are:

The first way might be the most important for a developing blog and that is gaining exposure. In order for a blog to be successful, people have to know that you're blogging. Well, let's say that you're a starting blogger who has amazing content and hoping to get your rightful place in the blogosphere. The problem is that nobody knows that you're blogging, and all of your great content is going to waste since you have no readers.

The solution for you is to start commenting on the popular blogs in your niche. I'm not talking about two word comments that give no value to the blogger or the reader. I mean 100-200 word worthwhile comments that provide insight to the blog post that was not there before. You have to show the audience that you know what you're talking about and that there is a reason for them to check out your blog to read your stuff. This has 2 advantages: Firstly, the readers of that blog will click on your link and head over to your blog. These people will contribute since it's as focused traffic as you're going to get, and each new reader is important. Moreover, the blogger himself will be attracted to your blog and that might mean a future backlink in a post from him which takes us to the second way.

The second way that blog commenting will help you is that they provide valuable backlinks to your site. Backlinks from your fellow bloggers' websites are valuable since they are from relevant sites that have quality content related to your website. This is the best type of backlink that there is. Many bloggers though have made their backlinks nofollow which means that you will not receive credit for leaving a backlink on such a site. This can still be valuable for you in terms of exposure and I would encourage leaving comments on nofollow blogs that are popular and well read while ignoring the fact that the backlink itself will not help you that much.

Blog commenting should not be overlooked as a way of developing your blog. Your organic traffic will increase based on the SERPs that will improve with the new backlinks and the direct traffic that you will receive will also prove beneficial.

Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - Hi David, I agree about the Blogosphere. You have a smaller group that Blog, but do so on the premise that they think they should, but have never really considered the purpose of their Blog. Then I think there are a few SEO or Internet Marketing types that see Blogging as just another link building strategy. But the largest group of Bloggers, tend to be people who enjoy writing and discussing their topics of interest. Blogging is good for link building, but the true Blogger is a breed apart from the rest. They want to dialog, to debate, to have feedback and they are very willing to link to other worthwhile conversations that are relevant to their topic. I agree with you. These group of Bloggers obviously are passionate about their writing and together, they create huge conversation trails interactive and travel from Blog to Blog. But the evidence is clear with this group that loves what they write about. With comments enabled on a Blog and having a Blog tuned to a specific purpose you already have the evidence of original Social Media.

Re: Blog commenting - does it worth? Re: Blog commenting - does it worth? - Commenting on do follow blogs & popular blogs is good. But usually i don't spend much time, very few minutes in a day or week. But it is also important how value you are adding to that post and on the blogs related to your blog niche. That makes sense ! Thanks, Mr. Ven
EvanCarmichael.com suggestion EvanCarmichael.com suggestion - Maybe I missed it but I would like to suggest that a Blog be created to support the Forum. The idea is that in the blog you put in snippets of some of the biggest conversations with a 'read more' link to the forum itself. Setting up the Blog and clipping some conversations onto it wouldn't take very long.
Jen's Blog - Spam protection Jen's Blog - Spam protection - Jen, I like the Blog and just posted a comment to one of your articles. From my experience you need to implement some sort of SPAM capture tools. i use them on my Blog and it's been a life saver as I'm getting hit by spam atleast 5 times a day. I use Wordpress and they have plugins like Captcha and SPAM Karma installed.
