Educational Videos - SEO & Reputation Management
Today I want to discuss how an educational video can increase a company's brand, reputation, and drive more traffic to their business. I did a search for "Search Engine Marketing" and found a YouTube.com video in the #8 position. This would not surprise me if Google had not implemented Google Caffeine, but videos usually only show up on the first page now if you (1) you click the option to have them show up (2) it is for a non-competitive keyword.
Why is this important and why should you read any further?
The keyword "Search Engine Marketing" is an extremely competitive keyword. Yet, this UK search engine marketing agency gained a first page ranking for their video! After analyzing the back links to the video I came across a gold mind link; a http://wiki.wsu.edu/wsuwiki/Search_Engine_Marketing/_Search_Engine_Optimization].edu from Washington State University!
Since the video was very informative on "What Search Engine Marketing" was it gained they attention of a student(s) who was doing a report on that subject. Writing a report requires the student to list out references and that is exactly what they did.
Their other back links came from various sources, most were obviously generated by other people manually or bots that picked up the video. Overall, the back links revealed that people linked to the video because it was helpful; it was an educational video.
How does this case study benefit you as a website owner?
Building educational videos can increase your brand, reputation, trust, importance, reach, and even earn your company money from Google Adsense if you get enough search engine traffic. WebBizIdeas Youtube Account earns a couple hundred dollars each month from Google Adsense; not a fortune but not bad for doing nothing each month!
Some questions to ask yourself when considering creating a video:
- What do I do each day at my job that I can teach others?
- What questions do I answer over and over again?
- Instead of sending an email or making a phone call, can I type up a video?
- Can I create training videos for my employees, instead of training in person?
- Can I record anything my employees do and throw it on my YouTube.com Account?
