This article will help educate those looking to build a search engine friendly web site. A key factor I could not fit in series was 'On-Page Optimization.' I wanted to summarize the main factors to consider when optimizing a website:

Quality of Content: Just create good content. If you write quality web pages, articles, blog posts, videos, sales copy's, and any other type of 'content' your target audience is looking to read you will have success in Google & Yahoo. Search engines want to rank content that users want to read #1 & search engine users want to read good content.; so just give them what they both want. Forget everything you know about SEO and just produce really good content.

Quality of Link: Good links you rarely buy, exchange in links, come from article directories, obtain by bookmarking your own web page, or any other SEO link building campaign. Good links come from producing & writing good content. Once you have good content publish it on your website, let as many good business connections know about it, talk about it in a few public forums or social networks, and go back to building more good content. You can't give yourself your own nickname, if your content is reputable & useful people will naturally tell others about it.

Anchor Text: Why is Adobe #1 in Google for the keyword "click here?" They are number one because 1,000's of web pages link to Adobe with the anchor text "click here." Adobe does not even have the words "click here" listed in ANY part of the page that ranks #1, anchor text is that important! Google Webmaster Tools is a great free resource to get insight into anchor text.

Page Title: Not only do search engine value the Page Title very high, it also shows up in the search results. This means a good Page Title could influence a user to click on your listing.

Internal Navigation: Do internal links count the same as external pages? Remember search engines index web pages, not websites! Using correct anchor text throughout your site's internal navigational structure can be an easy improvement in your site's rankings.

H1 Tags: Still important, also very important from a website usability stand point.

Age of Site: still important.

External Links: Yes, external links with proper anchor text also can help a web page rank well in the search engines.

Alt & Title Tags: Important for Google Images & complying with correct coding standards. The visual impaired also use alt & title tags to understand what is displayed online.

Age Of Content: still important.

Meta Data: Users read meta descriptions when searching Google & Yahoo so a well written meta-description is important. But if you don't write one, Google will extract content from that web page which can work equally well.

Keyword Density: Just write a good page title & header tags.

Moreover, we have a wonderful tool to find out from previous posts. On the top right corner, use 'Advanced Search' and write 'Search Engine Tips'. It brings up all the previous posts with that information. Check it out. You will be surprised all the inherent information stored.
