Create a Resource Box that works for you

This is one of the most overlooked self-promotional opportunities you have as an article writer. A Resource Box is your space to advertise yourself when you are using articles to market yourself and your internet business. You write articles, submit them to article directories, have a resource box that links back to you and you get great exposure.

On sign up to article directories, you will have the opportunity of completing an author's bio or resources box. Some sites in fact allow you to complete both. This aspect of writing articles for directories is almost as important as the article itself. Your resource box content will depend on what you would like to achieve for yourself.

Are you submitting articles because you wish to start an internet business?

Are you wishing to earn a reputation as a writer?

Perhaps you would like to increase your copy writing work.

Here are some guidelines on how to compile your details for the resource box.

Start with the author's name, most probably yours, or whatever name you would like to be known as. It seems obvious, but some people do forget to include their own name!

You will want to provide your website address. It is advised to limit the number of links you provide. Don't confuse the reader. Lead them to one site. If you provide too many options you will find that none are chosen and you lose out on a valuable source of traffic.

Provide a unique selling proposition or also commonly known as an elevator pitch as to why you are the expert on the topic you have written about and what other skills you offer. You have a few sentences in which you can introduce yourself to readers.

In this section it is best to write in the third person. Start with your name.

As an example:

Joe Bloggs is a qualified nutritionist with twenty years experience helping many people to live happy and healthy lives. He writes about nutrition for families, with especial care and attention on a healthy life style for youngsters. He is particularly concerned at the rate of obesity in young children and offers some good advice for parents to ensure their kids grow up into healthy adults.

A final part to your resource box is your call to action. However, be subtle about this. Avoid a direct request such as click here. Rather invite the reader to visit your site and provide an incentive. A possible wording could be: For further information or to download the free Guide to...

Your resource box is your trade off for providing the article directory with your free content. This is your opportunity to promote yourself. In other words you give something by writing an article and you receive a link opportunity back in return. Make full use of it!

Re: Facebook or Twitter? Re: Facebook or Twitter? - Twitter works the best for me, maybe it is so because I share knowledge from 20+ other sales trainers, so people find it valuable. Facebook - not so much. I got some traction, however LinkedIn works much better for b2b crowd.

Re: Character Design - using it effectively in marketing Re: Character Design - using it effectively in marketing - Hi Russell, You made a very good point. It doesn't matter if you like it or not, the question is if it works or not. I've seen some sites that the animated character worked for them, and some don't. It''s all about testing. The same is about pop ups, and fly-in ads - I didn't like them, but I do have one on my home page. Why? because it works, and I get 75% sign ups from this form. maybe a talking lady will work too.
