Article directories are a great way to get exposure for your articles and for yourself the writer. And if you have an internet marketing business then you will most definitely want to use article directories to help you market your business. There is a directory to serve any niche and interest you may wish to write about. Some directories allow you to write on almost any topic while others restrict the articles to specific areas of expertise. The most popular ones are the ones that allow a wide range of topics.

You can post any kind of article to the article directory of your choice. However, if you want to establish yourself as a serious writer or a credible internet marketer you will need to focus on writing high quality articles.

Article directories make your articles available to readers as well as to people who might wish to use your articles for their own purposes. The popularity of your articles are directly in proportion to their quality.

Webmasters or internet marketers looking to reprint articles on their sites will look for articles that have the basics right. Those would be articles with perfect spelling and be grammatically correct.

The advantage you have is that most articles are shoddily written and usually cover the most basic of topics. Any effort you spend on ensuring that your articles are well written and well-researched will pay dividends as they will stand out from the crowd.

The goal of article writing should be to make the article interesting. An interesting article will be snapped up by people wishing to place good content on their sites. They know that good content attracts more traffic and could contribute to higher PageRank.

Your article needs to have a compelling title. Deciding on a title for an article can be really difficult. It is usually advisable to keep the word count down to about five words. It has to be catchy and possibly voice some controversy.

The best way to test whether your title will appeal is to consider whether the title would entice you to continue reading. If you feel you could be too biased, then ask a friend or colleague to rate the title for its attention getting value.

Your well written article is now ready to be posted to the article directories. Most of the big sites are free to sign up to and make the process relatively easy even for the more technically challenged writers.

Re: Online Article Marketing - Free & Done Correctly - Hi, I do several things with article marketing. I write my own articles, have articles written and rewrite PLR articles. If it was up to my writing ability alone I would have a hard time with 1 article a week. Rewriting PLR articles using keywords I choose is my first choice. It does take a little time to pick an article to rewrite because I want them to be topic for my website plus they need to written well. Even when rewriting articles if an article does not flow well it will take much more work to rewrite it. Many online marketers only submit their articles to a select few article directories. It works well for them. I have a dual purpose in article writing and need my articles to go to as many directories as possible. My number one purpose is to create backlinks. If I only submitted 3 articles a week to 5 directories they would not help much in creating the backlinks I need. My second purpose is to draw traffic to my site. Again, and in my opinion, if I submitted to just a handful of sites I feel I would be defeating my purpose. So I had to find a program that would submit to a lot of directories and one that also submitted to quality directories. I found what I needed with one submission service. Now each article can bring 60-70 backlinks and I see weekly visitors from several article directories in my stats. That is my article marketing strategy and it has been working for me.

I totally agree that if you want to get as many backlinks as possible, then submitting to just a few directories just isn't enough. I use Article Marketer to submit my articles - and they go out to a large number of ezines. I know this ends up with duplicate content - but I read somewhere recently that this is not as big a deal as many people think. Like Steve, I get a lot of visitors through these directories. Ros

Keep it simple for a starter, offer good/fun prizes, and find a "community" of bloggers to spread this contest/news by of course asking them nicely and propose that it would benefit both of your sites. See how that works, and if you want to, you could also join some carnivals. We have tried this for the company that I work for (Pepper Virtual Assistants) and it's given us great exposure in the online business industry.

I've started writing different articles and then having them link back to my site with a different article, but this was not always the case. But the reason I was asking was that You see a lot of people are telling you to write 1 article and then a different one for submission to the directories for IBL's. Now some people say that the same articles to different directories is duplicate content and your articles (and possibly) your site will be penalized. However at the same time people also talk about tools like article submitters and say they work like magic. Can you shed some light on this for me? I just submitted an article to an article submitter and may purchase it if the free trial goes well, but in the mean time I am awaiting the results. Thanks in advance for your response.
Re: How To Promote Your Biz While On Holiday... - Automation is really great. Before I took this long break, I wrote a few articles and some short blog posts. I entered all of them to my blog and scheduled the publication time. This way my blog was getting updated every other day, without me thinking about it. I also went to all my favorite TEs and assigned all the credits and impressions I had. Submitting article to article directories, using SYA, and article marketers. Just set it and forget it.
