How To Build a List That Actually Opens Your Emails

If you've been marketing for long and hard enough, you are probably aware of the fact that money is in the list. But what I learned from a devastating experience is that money is in a responsive list. A list that actually opens and reads your emails. A list that responds to your calls to action.

Real money is made of a list that is receptive of your marketing. If you mail 2000 people and only 100 of them respond, that's only 5%. 95% of your potential revenue is wasted.

To prevent such a horrible thing from happening, you need to be building a responsive list from the ground up. Earning the trust of a non-receptive list is much harder than building a new one from scratch.

1. Confirmed Double Opt Ins

Confirmed double opt in is when the prospect needs to confirm his subscription by clicking on a confirmation link which is delivered by email.

Although it lowers opt in rates, confirmed opt ins do more good then damage, because they ensure that the subscriber is a real person and that he actually wants to be on your mailing list.

From a SPAM policy standpoint confirmed opt ins are the best way to prevent SPAM complaints. If someone's accusing you of being a SPAMer, all you have to say is:

"You have double confirmed when you opted in to my list, so just unsubscribe and have a nice day."

2. Quality Content

During the first week, you have a chance to impress your subscriber by giving him lots and lots of quality content he can immediately apply and get results.

By doing that you will create a sense of trust, establish rapport and gain respect of your subscriber and he will be much more likely to open your next email with an offer attached to it.

3. Ask For Their Opinion

Use online poll systems and blogs to ask your subscribers questions and opinions on different matters.

It will make them feel important and they will be much more likely to stick with your list simply because you want to know their opinion about subjects that interest them.

4. Split Test Subject Lines

Email subject line is like outside car design-if you like it, you'll be more likely to check out the interior of the vehicle if you like the outside. On the other hand, if you hate it-you're going to move on without thinking twice about it.

Make your subject lines irresistible by using proven copywriting formulas and by split testing different ideas.

Each and every subscriber you get is a real, live, talking, walking and thinking being. You need to remember that each time you make contact with your list.

Don't approach them as a leader, be a friend and they will connect with you more than you would have ever thought possible.

Re: Awesome Resource: Instapaper Re: Awesome Resource: Instapaper - So far the only thing I use the filters for is to send all the safelist emails I get to a folder. It currently has over 386,000 emails in it. This is a really good tip though. I need to start utilizing it. Emails eat up too much of my time right now.

Re: Great start, but no finish Re: Great start, but no finish - My advise is FOCUS on your business. Focusing is the main factor to succeed on business. If you have a great idea, then follow it only, don't look anywhere else. It is especially essential in an online business. Because there are a lot of mind blowing sales letters promising millions dolllars or overnight success, people find it difficult to concentrate on one business and they lose their energy. Concept is simple. 1- Have a good idea; 2- Build your business on it; 3- Monetize your business; 4- Promote it; 5- Build list of responsive customers; 6- Maintain You Business. Focusing and not fearing from competition (instead you can learn from competitiors) are main tips of billionaires ,BTW. Orxan

Re: How do you make the most of your day? Re: How do you make the most of your day? - Here are a couple things I do to get lots done. First, I work from a weekly To Do List (although I should call it an Action List) rather than a daily list. Each item on the list must be one specific action required to move one step closer to accomplishing or finishing something. It's similar to what Robert Alan talks about. Each day I prioritize 3 actions that must be completed before the end of the day. I fully commit to those actions. Second, when I really need to focus on something to get the most done possible I work in timed 50 minute increments. That may sound a little loopy but it really works for me plus I feel refreshed working that way. So I literally have a little timer on my desktop that I set to count down from 50 minutes to zero. During that 50 minutes I work without interruption. When the timer goes off I stop whatever I'm doing and take a 10 minute break. You can get an incredible amount of work done working that way without feeling like you're working hard. I don't schedule 8 of those 50 minute time periods because there isn't a need to plus I'm sure you would wear out if you did. If you haven't tried this you might want to give it a try setting just two 50 minute time periods for a couple days and fiercely keeping them without interruptions to see what I mean. I'd love to hear about your experience and any other kind of quirky things that work.
