Overcome Your Internet Marketing Obstacles

Woo-hoo, you have a website / blog with some banner adverts, you’ve completed some Internet Marketing, Search Engine Optimization and you are on your way to becoming a millionaire (some adverts and people will have you believe).

Back to reality…

Picture this…you are watching TV, you are fully engrossed in the film or programme you are watching.

Then there’s a break…those pesky adverts…don’t they drive you mad!

What do you do during the adverts…make a drink, grab something to eat, go to the bathroom, talk…don’t tell me you actually watch the adverts. If that’s the case you are in the minority.

Internet Marketing Obstacle Number One

The same goes for on-line website banners and adverts.

You read the posting or some other information…and ignore the adverts, the banners…ALL THE STUFF I WANT YOU TO SEE AND BUY.

A website with just a few banners doesn’t look too bad but when you see the page just full of them it can look a little cluttered.

Back, to the adverts and banners on websites.

How many have you ever clicked on?

Not many, I guess.

So obstacle number one, have a few banners only and rotate them.

Internet Marketing Obstacle Number Two

The search engines. The way the search engines like Google work is they rank your website / blog according to how well it seems to match the user’s search query. It’s not an exact science, but it has to do with what words you have in your web site title, metadata, and in the text on your site itself.

Search Engine Optimization is one of the most popular buzz phrases on the Internet today, and everyone wants their site optimised, so ‘searchers’ find it.

Is Search Engine Optimization time consuming and complex?

Can be.

Is Search Engine Optimization simple?

Can be.

Don’t be silly, it can’t be both complex and simple!

Search Engine Optimization can be very complex and covers such topics as Ad tracking, Advertising, Affiliate Marketing, Article Marketing, Blogging, Commenting, Competitor analysis, ‘Competitor’ Approaches, Directory Listing, Domain Acquisition, Forum Posting, Google Analytics, Hubpages, Joint Ventures, Keyword Research and Selection, Link Baiting, Link Building, Newsletter Creation, Off Page Optimization, On Page Monetization, On Page Optimization, Organic Search Engine Optimization Campaign, Pinging, PPC, Press Releases, RSS Creation, RSS Distribution, Social Bookmarking, Video Creation, Video Distribution, Viral Marketing, Visitor Purchasing, Web site acquisition…

Doing all that would be full-time and complex.

The simple way - use the most appropriate keywords as often as you can on your site so that search engines will consistently rank it very high (for those keywords).

Internet Marketing Obstacle Number Three

People simply won’t sign-up for your free offer.

Imagine going to a bookshop and you are looking for some books on Sewing Machines. You approach the ‘advice counter’:

Can you tell me where the books on Sewing Machines are?

“Yes, of course, second floor right at the back. But you are not allowed to touch them or read them before you give us your personal details”

“What?”

“It’s a new rule…you can’t read or touch the book until you give us your personal details”.

You’d walk out wouldn’t you?

And that’s what people do on-line. They leave your website without signing-up.

However, there will be people who do sign up for your email list online as they are generally customers who are very interested in what you offer and some will eventually purchase from you.

These three obstacles are just a few you may run into when working on your online business but overcome them and you’ll be on your way to making some income!

Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
Internet Marketing Conference on SLife Internet Marketing Conference on SLife - I've been trying to log in but it keeps crashing.. anyways.. a friend of mine in BC plans on holding Internet Marketing Conferences on SecondLife and have the same top internet marketers that would normally be in Live Internet Marketing conference speak. Income will be generated from admission charges, product sales during breaks, sponsor tables, etc etc.. Just to get the ideas flowing in your head that anything you can do in the real world can be replicated in SL. There is no planned date as of yet for this conference.
Re: Hi from a Manhattan coach Re: Hi from a Manhattan coach - Hi Julie, Welcome to the forum, it's great to have you here and thank you for telling us a little about yourself. You sound like a very enthusiastic person who likes what she does and in Internet Marketing that is very important and you also sound like a 'people person' which is great. Internet Marketing is time consuming and challenging but can also be extremely rewarding and hopefully profitable. I don't know how many forums you have signed up to but this is one of the best. The support and guidance you get here is what makes it the success that it is but as I am sure you know from looking at the side bar that there are many aspects of business that are catered for here which will help you along the way, best wishes, Mal.
Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? - Hi Kevin, I have to agree with Tanny. All forums are unique in their own way, but doesn't mean that one is better than the other. What you might get out of one forum, you may not get from another. For instance, the WF focuses on Internet Marketing, while this forum focuses on Entrepreneurship. Each has their own set of benefits. I don't think you can really compare one to the other, unless of course they focused on the same topic. I have learned a lot from this forum, stuff I would never have gotten from the WF. With that being said, I've learned a lot from the WF, specifically since I need to know about Internet Marketing and running an online business. The addition of the Online Business forum here will help, and Jeff is doing a great job as moderator.
Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Everyone, 2009 is a new year and I'd like to create a new forum category to jazz things up! In the past, there's been some interest voiced about adding a "Social Media Marketing", "Online Marketing", "Internet Marketing" or "Online Promotion" category. I'll implement [u:1g2tv6tf]ONE[/u:1g2tv6tf] of those new categories, but can someone first tell me what the difference would be between the existing "Marketing" section and one of those new options mentioned above? Thanks
