All that Twitters is not Gold

Twitter marketing is one of the best methods that any online marketer can employ to earn money from the convenience of their own home. This way of getting your message to the masses can be utilized by those who are younger or older or male or female. This article will show you 2 very simple ways in which you can put the power of this online phenomenon to work in your own home based business.

An easy thing for most people to do is to focus on what is currently a hot topic in the mainstream media. For example, the World Series is one of the hottest topics in the nation at this time. If you simply do a search on Twitter.com for the phrase “World Series,” you will find a large number of results for that particular phrase. You just need to go through all of the entries that come up for that term, and add the people who have tweeted about that event to your friends. As a word of caution, you do want to be wise about how you build so as not to make the powers that be at this popular social media site angry.

The goal is to build your list of friends so that you can market to these people at a later time. In the world of social media marketing, you have access to an enormous number of people. Once you have added a certain number of followers, a certain percentage of those individuals followers will also follow you. I am certain you can see that you can build a very strong network with this type of available set up. It can be very lucrative to target a product towards people who already want what you have as a service.

Being an affiliate for a product that promotes baseball or the World Series Championship in October and November can put a great deal of dollars in your pocket. Set a goal of how many people you want to follow per day. A safe number is 50 people per day. You must also factor in that a number of these people or businesses will not follow you back, or may even stop being your follower. However, averaging 30 followers per day for 20 days will give you a total of 600 followers, all having somewhat of an interest in the Championship of Major League Baseball.

The final factor that all Twitter marketers should remember is the importance of relationship building. This can be accomplished by giving your followers something of value that you believe will interest them about baseball or sports. You can send tweets about the actual game that you saw last night, your opinion of the national anthem, or how great it was to see Yogi Berra walk with the first lady to the pitcher's mound to greet a man with one arm. Being a friend to someone will go a long way in the both the offline and online world in which we make our homes. Having these followers as your friend will make it much easier to sell these people something when you let them know about a sports-related affiliate product or CPA offer.

In the end, Twitter can be a huge goldmine for anyone that decides to put its power to use. You can develop a large network, build quality relationships, and market to these people all at no cost to you. All that twitters may not be gold, but sometimes it sure seems to appear that way.

Re: Twitter vs Facebook Re: Twitter vs Facebook - Depends. Facebook is larger but still not as suitable for making as many contacts. Someone with a few hundred friends can have 40,000 followers on Twitter. Facebook is great for more detailed messages but nothing beats Twitters efficiency when it comes to exchanging micro-messages. The only thing I can really say is about privacy. Facebook seems not to work to protect it (or sells it) so you need to be careful what you say about your company. Twitter can be made private (default if public) but you don't have to worry as much about giving away too much info either.

Re: Customer protection or sales loss? Re: Customer protection or sales loss? - Hi Beat, I prefer to buy online to save money or obtain discontinued/rare items. For instance, I recently bought a demo Prince Speedport Gold tennis racquet for $157.51 USD (including shipping to my friend's condo) on eBay, while another seller had previously turned me down because he/she insisted that the PayPal account's address match the shipping address. That same racquet retails in Canada for $305.04 CAD after taxes. A lot of my friends don't have PayPal accounts and don't like giving their credit card number to "smaller" online vendors, so I'm often limited as to where I can shop.
Think like an Association Think like an Association - Hey Sebastian, Maybe you could try thinking like an Association... I would study the structure or formats used by other Associations. What are they doing to add value for their members? The BBB plays a monitoring role for consumers by gathering data about business' that are behaving badly. And they're pretty successful at it too. Maybe you can offer a 'Platinum Program' that franchisors buy into. Accredited members only. Criteria could be strict: 1. Age (stability): 10+ years 2. Satisfied franchisees: 85% + satisfaction 3. Size (stability again): 250 units 4. Strong profits 5. Great management -Maybe a 'Gold Program' for those Franchisors that aren't quite at that level, but can strive to reach it... -Top 100, 500, 1000 Listing for qualified members... maybe a slap at Entrepreneur.com and their biased top 10 lists... -Maybe act as a monitor like BBB? -Maybe team up with FranSurvey OR do something similar for each member (not sure about Fransurvey's rep, but I like the concept) There's so much discontent within the franchising arena that I think if you were part of the solution, then you could create a win/win with your Association. The only downside is that this power can get abused if there aren't good checks and balances within the association.
