Step I: Keywords

Develop a keyword strategy to ensure that you target the right searchers. Targeting low performing keywords can make a considerable difference to the quality of traffic reaching the site. An investment in the wrong keywords can get a lot of traffic to the site but if the incoming traffic is not interested in your offering, you will not get a good return on your investment. It becomes crucial at the onset to identify the right set of keywords that best reflect the website service.

Some search terms will deliver more in terms of business results. Put in more effort on these so that you get qualified traffic.

STEP II: Structure of the website

Make sure the structure of the website is organised logically and allows information to be found easily. A well structured site not only works well for search engines but also improves user experience. Linking pages within the site gets the site pages to be crawled faster by search engines. Make sure that the most important information is easily found. Get relevant pages to link to each other. One should not use excess of cross linking. Divide information in different levels and allow one level to be nested within the other in a logical manner. Make navigation simple. Provide a sitemap. A sitemap serves as a guide to not only visitors but also search engines.

Structure the site in such a way that some pages are designed towards sending more page rank towards specific pages. This is to ensure that the pages improve rankings for specific key terms.



STEP III: Good Content

Offer value to visitors. Add good information on the site. Make sure the Information helps the visitor in taking a decision. Additional information that is related to the products or services helps the user in taking an informed decision. It also helps build more trust and credibility for your offering, as you come across as an authority on the subject. The more the information you can provide, the easier it is for visitors to understand and appreciate your product.

Monitor traffic logs to see what pages need more content and which ones are not performing well. Make changes on existing keywords or modify content copy if you think it is leading to poor performance.



STEP IV: Get links from the web

Links from other sites related to the theme of your website cast a vote in favour of your site. The more the votes, the more are the chances of the site to show in the top searches. Since the basic purpose of the site is to get quality traffic, adding relevant links from relevant pages will add value to the site – both for visitors as well as search engines. A well linked site will have a better chance to be seen in the top searches and thus have a higher possibility of visitors clicking on the search result and reaching the site.

STEP V: Promoting the site

To ensure that people understand about your offering, you would need to promote the site on various portals. For that you will need an online marketing and advertising, to create profitable marketing strategies that will create links as a side benefit. Build a relationship with owners of great content sites. Offer them unique content in exchange for a link from their site. Gear most of your promotional activities for obtaining valuable links to the site.

The computer geek tells everyone in school & even hands out 100's of flyers about his party Friday night...what happens? his friends end up showing up and a few new people...even the new people leave right away because it is not what they are looking for. The High School Football Captain ends up just telling a few good buddies, and within hours the entire school not only knows about it, but everyone wants to come, and everyone does come & stay. One defenition of "optimize is "To make as perfect or effective as possibe." How effective are your article marketing campaigns? Moreover, we have a wonderful tool to find out from previous posts. On the top right corner, use 'Advanced Search' and write 'Search Engine Tips'. It brings up all the previous posts with that information. Check it out. You will be surprised all the inherent information stored.
