Keyword density, no more usage in SEO
In the late 1990s, keyword density became an important factor for SEO and the site with more keywords will get higher ranking. Webmasters discovered this search engine secret and started adding more keywords in pages to get higher search benefits. Nowadays, the Search Engines are giving more priority to many other factors to avoid keyword stuffing.
Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words on the page. My dear Internet marketing friend, search results are determined by relevancy and NOT BY ADDITIONAL KEYWORDS ON YOUR PAGES. Google relevancy is determined by over 200 factors, one of which is the PageRank for a given page.
You can find many SEO tools for finding and analysing keywords on your pages. Do you think this is required for SEO? Absolutely NO. You just concentrate on page navigation and contents to rank well in search results pages. Create pages with relevant titles and META tags with relevant keywords.
No one knows the Search Engine logic and never accept third party commitment about your SEO. You cannot expect the page to be listed in top of search results on the same day you launched; it takes time to crawl, index and move you on top.
The only way of promoting your website is, INCREASE VISIBILITY OF YOUR PRODUCT/SERVICES. If you have wealthy budget to advertise, you can very well start your SMM (Search Engine Marketing) and SMA (Social Media Advertising); if not, you can start promoting your product/services by submitting to download sites, free press release sites, article publishing sites, RSS sites, free ad sites, video sites and directories.
Good rule of building a page is “quality over quantity”. A single page can generate more traffic than tons of pages. Your page content should contain the clear information about product or services with relevant keywords in relevant places (NOT IN ADDITIONAL PLACES).
Duplicate content will actually drive SEO rankings down. Make each page content different enough will give greater rewards.
Guidelines for using keywords in contents
1. Avoid using analytical tools to find keywords on your pages, verify manually
2. Make clear and quality content about your product or services without adding more keywords
3. Avoid using more links in your content (100-150 words per link recommended)
4. To avoid keyword stuffing SPAM issues use at maximum 2% of keywords in your content
5. Use the below formula to calculate keyword density percentage
(Total Number of Keywords/ Total number of Words) * 100
Good luck for your SEO success !
