There a few search engine optimization techniques that will help you make the best of your affiliate marketing program. But first let’s see what types of affiliate marketing programs you can choose.

Pay Per Click – advertisers pay the hosing service (your website) when their ad is clicked; the amount you earn is usually a fixed amount which can vary depending on the keywords you choose and how popular it is. When it comes to PPC, search engine optimization is very important because you will need specific keywords, a certain type of visitors, and a lot of traffic.

Pay per performance is one of the most successful types of advertising (from the advertiser’s point of view) because the website owner gets paid only when their visitors buy something from the site advertised, they sign in, or perform any other relevant action. If it refers to sales, Pay Per Performance becomes Pay Per Sale and when it refers to other relevant actions for the advertiser it becomes Pay Per Lead. Your SEO will have to be based more on the interested visitors rather than how many visitors you have.

Pay Per Lead – in this type of affiliate marketing the purpose is to make the visitor act on the site you are affiliated with. They don’t have to buy anything for you to be paid but you won’t be paid if they simply click on your ad.

Pay Per Sale – this type of affiliate marketing refers to affiliate programs that will offer a certain percent of the sales they make from your websites. Sometimes this is a fixed price, but sometimes advertisers will not pay a fixed commission. In theory, this type of affiliate marketing will generate more money than PPC, but sometimes is hard to get enough interested visitors. You can also use different techniques and make reviews of the products you are advertising to increase people’s interest.

Depending on the type of affiliate marketing you choose, you will have to make certain modifications related to search engine optimization. Must of the time they only include a few changes in the keywords you choose, but when you want something done professionally that earns you a lot of money, you will have to make a few drastic changes.

There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]
Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Hi GT Affiliate Marketing is one of the easier ways to get started making money online, but it does take quite a bit of work before you see any great results as you have to keep promoting constantly. It does teach you one hell of a lot about all aspects of Internet Marketing though as you will need to learn how to write and submit articles, create and maintain a blog, social networking is a great help to affiliates too..the list goes on and on. Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - You made some very good points here Jeff and I agree with you, Affiliate Marketing should not be something that you concentrate all your efforts into. As i said earlier I have learned a lot with Affiliate Marketing and continue to do so, and it has helped me tremendously to understand what I am going to have to do in my chosen niche(s). I am also interested in creating an ebook one day and am glad that I can finally contribute to someone who is, maybe not so up to date in an area that I have some knowlege of. Also I forgot to mention Affiliate Marketing from my previous post. Getting others to sell WhyNot's ebooks for him is a great way of promoting as well.
