Choosing a Web Design Company: Points to Consider Before Taking a Decision

Such a website can help a small business owner, operating from his office in Sydney, make online deals and sales with global clients. The reach and power of Internet highlights the importance of an effective website design and the need of hiring a professional and reliable web design company.

If you fail to hire the right web design company, your website may turn out to be a complete disaster, causing you not only monetary losses, but also loss of online exposure and reputation. Therefore, one must consider several pros and cons of hiring a particular website design company.

Discussed below are some of the points to be consider before you hire a company for your website design needs:

 1. The company’s own website- For any kind of business, people first search for and visit its website in order to get a fair idea about its specialisations and seriousness towards their work. And, when it comes to a web design company, the role of its own site becomes all the more critical. A poorly developed website of a web design company indicates its lack of commitment towards its business and clients. Contacting such a web design company can be a bad idea. So, if you want to get your website designed or redesigned, your first step should be to thoroughly check the website of the company that will be working on the design and development of your site.

 1. Portfolio and testimonials- The company’s website also has the portfolio and testimonials sections where you can have a look at their performance standards and what their clients think about them. The portfolio can give you the idea about the level of expertise of the company’s website design team. One can also browse through several discussion portals or social media communities to find out people’s feedback about the company in question.

 1. Expertise level of the web designers and developers- While the reputation of the company matters a lot, the success of your website depends largely on the expertise of the web designers and developers. Therefore, it becomes imperative to have complete knowledge about their experience and skills and ability to work on time-bound projects.

 1. The communication skills- Many a times, one can spot discrepancies in the planned design and the final website. This happens primarily because of miscommunication and lack of understanding of the client’s requirements by the designer and vice-versa. Therefore, you should insist for well documented communication at each stage of the project.

 1. The level of your involvement in the design and development process- Another important factor that needs to be considered before hiring the web design company is how much they appreciate your views and involvement in the project. While giving freedom of work to the designers is necessary, one shouldn’t remain in oblivion about the progress of the work. Therefore, you should select the company that believes in keeping the client in the loop before taking important decisions regarding the project.

 1. Value for money- The job of a website design company is not just to develop a website, but also to develop a performance-oriented website that gives greater return on your investments. So, have a word with the company’s clients and try to find out the value for money provided by the company.

Re: New Video - Should I Get A Job Or Start A Business? Re: New Video - Should I Get A Job Or Start A Business? - Hi Evan, I was curious to know what you'd suggest and I think you gave excellent advice. Taking a year out to try and start your own business is a great idea. Taking a year out after college is a well established option so I guess it doesn't prejudice your chances of getting a job should you wish to do so later on; it probably improves your chances if you've been getting valuable experience of managing a business and of course, if all goes well, you won't need to find out. Definitely a video for my website. Thanks! David

Re: I want to do business online! Re: I want to do business online! -
Hi all, Do you people have any idea about cheap and professional web Design Company? Actually I have a sport stuff business and want to spread my business online. Can anyone help me out ??[/quote:11aths35] If you'e just starting out in your business, try a "cookie cutter" website where you just input your info into a site that's already been created. It's cheaper that way. Then, if the site takes off, you can afford to go with a professional designer to make something unique.

Re: Subject line Etiquette Re: Subject line Etiquette -
Another email rant: Is there some place on the internet that outlines proper "Subject line" headings? There mus be a system out there that people use to be more efficient email senders. Not everything that comes into my mail box requires my immediate attention. I would love to educate myself and the people who send me emails on proper subject lines. Maybe something like: "Urgent Review: <<Title of document>>" "Decision Required: "<<Subject matter>>" just something for me to quickly scan the subject lines and decide which ones need my immediate attention. Anyone know of such email standards that exist out there?[/quote:b50c4a20] The only messages I get that say Urgent or Decision Required etc are spam. I tell people to put something relevant to their business with me in the subject line - this is especially important for the people who fall into my junk mail. Chris
