1 Thing You Must do to Make Your Small Business a Success

Whether you are one of the thousands forced into entrepreneurialism, or someone who has planned to make it on your own for a long time now there is one thing you can do to ensure your business is a success. It’s something almost no one does. It’s the one thing that causes more business failures than anything else.

You see most entrepreneurs and small business owners pick a product or service that excites them, and then try to build a business around that product or service. This approach is completely backward. This approach forces you to struggle when you wouldn’t have to.

Rather than starting with a product or service the one thing you must do when determining what business you will be in is you must find out what people are already looking to buy. It just make sense that it’s a whole lot easier to sell people something they are already looking to buy than it is trying to convince someone to buy something they aren’t already looking to buy. Yet again a little common sense goes a long way.

And don’t be fooled into thinking that just because other people sell the product or service you plan on selling that it means people are already looking to buy it. You have no idea what their cost per sales is, or how long their sale funnel is. You do understand cash is king. So if you can get cash coming in faster you avoid the most common business killer… a lack of cash.

So before you commit to any business idea find out what people are already looking to buy. Look for a common problem, challenge, or result that comes up over and over again in a lot of different settings.

Then once you know what people are already looking to buy figure out who else is already selling them that. Find out how they are fulfilling that need. Evaluate what you could do to set your business apart as the superior choice.

You can’t just replicate what they sell and how they sell it. You have to figure out how you can improve what they sell. You have to figure out how to position your business as the clear choice for the people already looking for this.
