Sales Coaching – 1 SIMPLE Way to Get More Business

How many times have you spoke with a sales person and never really got a grasp of what they were selling? How many times have you visited a website and couldn't figure out what it was about? How could these businesses be screwing up like that? Let's contrast those experiences with those where you instantly got what you were supposed to buy or do. For example, if you go to Google what can you do? Search. When you go to Google there is one thing and one thing only you can do. You either decide to search or you leave. Pretty simple, huh?

Why did the original McDonald's model work so well? They had a limited menu making deciding what to eat a simple choice.

Take a step back and look at what you are selling from a buyer's perspective. Could it be summed up in one word?

Could you lay out your business model on a cocktail napkin as a simple flow chart?

When the buyer sees what you sell do they get it? If yes, then what do you ask them to do? If no, does that mean they aren't a good fit, or does it mean your explanation is too complicated?

I would bet more often than not the reason they say "no" is because you aren't clear about what you sell. You should be able to explain what you sell in just simple terms a little kid get's it.

But instead you spew out some convoluted puffed up message that leaves your potential buyers flat. The funny thing is even the big companies do this. Take Microsoft and the way they advertise their new browser Bing. Their message is confusing. It isn't odd that they are trying to tell you their search results are less confusing by communicating a completely confusing message?

The simple way to get more business is to figure out what the people most likely to buy it WANT and what they need to hear. Then craft the simplest way to communicate that to them you possibly can. Once you get it right you won't have any doubt because your potential buyers will be all ears to hear what you have to say.

Re: Clarity Trumps Persuasion Re: Clarity Trumps Persuasion - Jeff, Thanks, great stuff !!! Clarity or "KEEP IT SIMPLE" is probably the best advice anyone can ever give or get when involved in any business or personal situation. Over 30 years of manufacturing ladies apparel has taught me two critical business lessons: 1-You will never get a 100% perfect outcome so In the BEGINNING,take your time, exhaust all your resources and energy and plan, plan, plan. . . If it STARTS off right it you'll get close to the desired outcome. 2-Keep it simple I now will add "Clarity" to my formula for success. CLARITY AND KEEPING IT SIMPLE BREEDS SUCCESS . . . . I know the advice above is simple but isn't that what it's all about. Thanks Ringo, This information not only was great for my website but it reminded me that "keeping it simple and clear" got me and my teams through some wicked situations Best wishes Barry
Online Sales and Marketing vs Traditional Online Sales and Marketing vs Traditional - Hi Evan, I am noticing that many of the posts in the Sales/Marketing section deal with online marketing, SEM and and SEO and Affiliates. Exclusive: Interview with Results Exclusive: Interview with Results - Hi Forum Members, I'm helping start up a Business Coaching and Consulting company here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (a Subsidiary of RSC Business in Los Angeles). As a Research and Development Intern I am required to practice my listening and interview skills by surveying Small and Medium Businesses on thier Business. This Survey is designed by RSC Business to also assist the Business being interviewed more insight into their own business. I am looking to interview about 30 businesses across North America over the span of 3 months. At the end of these interviews I will be publishing a report of the results and they will be made available for free to the Interviewees. The Report data will include responses from a minimum of 100 interviews. I would like to extend this opportunity to members of the Forum. If you would like to have this short 20-30 minute interview conducted on your Business and you reside in North America please send me an email or PM. Please contact me at andy[at]jvprosperity[dot]com to arrange our interview and to get free access to the results when they are published.
Business Coaching Internship Review Business Coaching Internship Review - I joined in during the first phase of the internship and at this point we are committed to doing research and development of RSC Business Group operating in Toronto. RSC Business Group already has products and services in Coaching Small businesses in Los Angeles but we didn't want to assume that the same products were wanted and needed in the Toronto market. Our goal at this point is to commit to interviewing 1000 business owners to capture this data. Through the teleconference internship I've been involved in we've been focusing on Communication Skills and on active listening which are practiced when we conduct our interviews and Coach our clients when they come on board. This is a lot harder than it sounds! Part of the internship is also creating the Toronto RSC Business Group's departments, job descriptions, Marketing and Communication plans etc that a business owner would create for their own company. This trains us in the way we would coach a company as well. The internship is phased in two parts and there is compensation plan involved as well for the clients you personally bring in. These clients are coached directly by Robert Chun as you begin but you are given a chance to learn his techniques. I haven't gone through this experience yet though. It's hard to explain Robert Chun's method of Coaching as it happens at a psychological level in his ability to listen and question the person being coached into the next steps they need to take. The Teleconferences are 2 hours long but it's very interactive. If you have a desire to explore this area of Business I'd recommend contacting Vwodek listed above and get invited to a Coaching Conference call. You can decided then if it's for you. Note: it is a commitment but the skills you walk away with whether you plan on working with RSC Business Group or not is invaluable.
