Powerful Relationship Selling
There was a man I met recently who shouted out the most fantastic values for business that certainly must have made an impact in the business realm. He was very enthusiastic and energetic. It was as if he truly had found a pearl of great price and was sharing its value to the world.
As I sat listening intently waiting for this great revelation to unfold, there was an anticipation in the room that began to rise. The audience, small as it was, was almost on the edge of their seats! He went on to describe three fundamental business relationships.
First level, "Whats in it for me?" Second level, "Win/win. Whats in it for us?" and the third most glorious level "How can I contribute to your success?" Does this sound familiar? It certainly did to me. I seem to recall others shouting the same message over the years as well. Good message.
As a studier of people and culture, it did not take me long to connect these values to their moral leverage points and where they are rooted in history. It confirmed to me that there truly is "nothing new under the sun".
John C. Maxwell wrote a beautiful little book called "Ethics 101" in it he describes the power of the golden rule. What is that you ask? Simple: "Do unto others what you would want them to do unto you." Sound familiar?
It is a law of community that we can never defer, dilute, or set aside for convenience because eventually we all will need someone for something at some time. Relationship selling relies heavily on our ability to attract and maintain meaningful relationships. We cannot give power and presence that we do not have. If this sounds like you, let us know.
Remember: "Generous men will prosper; he who refreshes others will he himself be refreshed." King Solomon
