House Arrest

Written by: Gary Silverman

Article Overview: More and more companies are sub-contracting their work. You’ve probably heard about people being laid off from their employer only to be hired back as a sub. These are interesting times. This can be a win win. Employers may have individuals who are only 70% productive yet they are paying for 40 hours of work. Many talented individuals are wasting their time sitting around an office cubicle with nothing to do. Once they are free to work from their home they can prospect for business from other companies, something they could not do while working full time. This may actually improve their income. The company benefits because now they can react to the cycle of business better controlling their expenses and profitability. Don’t you wish you could do that with excess inventory?

Another benefit is the ability to contract with the best people for your specific job. Your sub contractors can telecommute and transmit their work to your “office”. A friend of mine does voice over work for commercials. He is highly regarded so you all have probably heard him on T.V and radio. Recently he branched out to do Video game dubs. The employer is in Singapore and they send him the script and an idea of the type of accent they need for each line. He does a portion of the script and subs out other voice talent from around the world, people he has never met but auditions their work online. He gathers all of the talent, they upload their work to him and he produces the final copy for the account in Singapore. How efficient is that? He revels in the fact that he can work in the middle of the night where it’s afternoon in England while wearing his pajamas.

How can your company change to take advantage of this new world order? As this progresses, businesses can rent or build smaller offices, there will be less traffic on the roads, greater energy efficiency, less capital expenditure for equipment, lower personnel benefit expenses, fewer names to remember, better parking, greater productivity and higher quality work. You need to seriously view all of the individuals working for you and determine whether you are a candidate for this transition. This may also be an inexpensive way to grow your business. Either way, it’s worth the time to evaluate. I wrote this while sitting in my office at home. I’m a believer.

Re: Time to get rich in real estate? Re: Time to get rich in real estate? - House prices, like a lot of the economy in Japan, have been pretty stagnant. Hiroshima is no exception, at least on the secondary market; Apartment in new apartment blocks are more attractive to people who buy for residential purposes.
Re: Will Politics Help Or Harm Your Business? Re: Will Politics Help Or Harm Your Business? - Well...Obama has won... Democrats have increased their presence in both House and Senate... Welcome to four years of socialism in the USA... Everyone should remember where they are - financially speaking - at this moment, and four years from now, ask yourself, are you worse or better off? I know what[i:1032zmgm] I [/i:1032zmgm]expect to be.... hope I'm wrong...
Re: Time to get rich in real estate? Re: Time to get rich in real estate? - Hi Ideasuniversity, No worries! It was a good opportunity for me to chat about the housing situation in Hiroshima. This is a new cooperative venture between myself and Ryowa House, the most dynamic real estate agency in Hiroshima! They want to reach out to the English-speaking community, which tends to be ignored as a peripheral market - or even as something of a nuisance! - by most Japanese real estate companies.
Re: The rape of the American consumer Re: The rape of the American consumer - I don't think 'rape' is an appropriate term to use, but I do agree that it makes virtually no sense in my opinion, why the American government has bailed out these institutions and not put reasonable clauses or monitoring on the way in which the money will be used. I can see the line up for bailout requests surmounting in front of the White House in the coming weeks. I see (no joke) that the adult entertainment industry is also asking for a 4 billion dollar bailout. It will never end. Taxpayers are PAYING the companies that CHARGE US to use their services. It's a double payment, and it's being grossly mismanaged.

I saw a link for a video on YouTube the other day and it was a clip with a single mother and she said, "Obama's in office, I won't have to worry about paying for gas or my house anymore." I know there are several ways to take that, but... what does it sound like to you??? This country does not need more people getting paid to do nothing. Shri
