In January of 2007 Anthony Williams and Don Tapscott published “Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything”. This book is full of examples of companies and people collaborating. The premise is we can't know everything and be everywhere. The best companies help get their message out based on their ability to work collectively and collaboratively. So why not join in, or if you already are collaborative, step it up. You will find many others who are also experts, who can get you the information you need.
There are lots of vehicles available. Everything from your own circle of business friends to your associations, to your blog (this could go into establishing yourself as the expert section). Most of us have industry publications we can share valuable information in – and meet colleagues to collaborate with.
Collaboration is so powerful because it quickly develops trust. When we trust we instinctively move more business along faster because we can depend on our collaborator. How do you know when to trust? This is a challenge. Many of my successful colleagues say they simply look at all the evidence and then trust until proven otherwise.
Interactive groups, also called Mastermind Groups, can be so powerful. We talk about it but how do we make the time for it. You make the time. It takes surprisingly little time. Most of the time is spent finding the right group or colleague to collaborate with. (Get into how these things can be utilized effectively as lead generators, etc.)
These groups provide you with great ideas. The ideas bring you to new contacts and often new customers as well as business partners.
Napoleon Hill wrote that being active in a Master Mind group is the number one characteristic common to self-made millionaires.
The very good news is that there is great value in working with companies or individuals of different backgrounds. This makes for more varied and creative solutions.
Mastermind Groups can be very informal – from a group of key people that form your inner circle with whom you manage and leverage business opportunities to a defined group with regular meetings and goals.
Whatever route you choose collaboration simply leverages your business contacts and builds business faster.
