The easy way to close more sales

Your job in selling is to take your customers down road to the close. Unfortunately it is not always as easy as that but let us suppose for the moment that it is. You see a number of customers in a month, let us say 40, and you close 8 of them, then your strike rate would be one closed sale every 5 customers or 20%.

Your strike rate is an interesting statistic to watch. Under normal circumstances it will remain the same from one month to the next and even one year to the next. This principle depends very much on the number of items you expect to sell in a month. If you are selling small items, stationary for instance, you can get a clear reading of your strike rate each month. If you are selling larger items, factories for instance, then you may only sell one or two in a month and your strike rate will have to be read over a longer period to get real meaning out of it.

Your Strike Rate is a reflection of your ability to sell, your skills if you like. And if you don't change your skills your strike rate will remain the same.

Your target will obviously be to increase the number of closed sales and there are only two ways to do that, the easy way and the hard way. The hard way is to increase your strike rate by developing better sales skills. Much of my work is to help people do this and with focussed effort, concentrated training and practice you will be able to increase your strike rate by 50 and sometimes even 100% or more. This will take time but it is worth it.

The easy way to increase your number of closed sales is slightly different but can be done today with the same selling skills. Have you guessed what it is?

Selling is a numbers game. If you don’t improve your selling skills your strike rate will stay the same but if you simply increase the number of prospects you get face to face with, you increase the number of closed sales. Just like that!

Let us say that instead of seeing 40 customers in the average month, you get to see 80. Your strike rate at 20% stays the same remember so you close 16 customers instead of 8.

It’s that simple. With no added skills just a little hard work and a few new techniques you have the opportunity to double the number of closed sales.

Just imagine how well you could do if you could increase the number of customers you see and improve your strike rate.

Re: 7 Ways to Improve Sales Results Without Hiring New People Re: 7 Ways to Improve Sales Results Without Hiring New People - Hi Evan, Thank you for your post and link to 7 ways to improve sales results. I agree with you that many of the recommendations can equally be applied to affiliate marketers although at first glance it would be easy to dismiss them as only relating to direct office contact with sales staff. In this hi-tech world that we live in it is just as easy to support, coach, motivate and evaluate results with our downline or team by using modern media gadgets as if we were all in the same room. regards, Mal.
How to develop sales contacts? How to develop sales contacts? - Unfortunately starting off there isn’t a whole lot of easy tricks. But when you get those 2 interested prospects from sales calls and turn them into customers, you need to develop a referral system that gets 3-4 good prospects from each of them. That's the key to prospecting in sales, referrals from satisfied customers. Sometimes they'll give you the business without having to ask, but normally you'll have to pry a little and ask them who they know that could use your service or product.
Starting a Business Starting a Business - In the US, the city office building has all the locations where you get a local license, permit etc. A start up needs to have a state and federal tax ID number, this can all be done online - very easy actually. You need a business name (which is filed locally) and business entity, sole proprietor, partnership etc. Again, this can be researched and filed online. Being beside one tennis club is a possibility, but what if they move? What if you want to to target other clubs in the surrounding area? They could be hesitant to send their clients to a business that is next door to a competing club. Targeting all local clubs is a much broader way to get established and it could allow you a wider variety of sites to locate your business which gives you more options in cost. I disagree about local businesses not using a website. Just about anyone can benefit from a website. This gives you a "sales option" that is available 24 hours a day. It gives you a great way to showcase your business, the items and services you offer, can provide plenty of additional information which can establish you as an expert in the field and you can always accept orders from people in other areas. As far as getting a sales person etc from a distributor, an easy way is to contact another dealer in a different area and ask who they work with. You aren't a competitor and it wouldn't hurt to learn from them. Or, contact the sales department for the manufacturer or distributor. They are there to generate sales and need clients. If you seem to have a definite plan to get the business going, a good sales person will be able to be helpful. But they may be hesitant if they don't think you're serious and are just fishing for information. Chris
Re: Ideas For Business Re: Ideas For Business - [quote="Stas Z":3hvq6dfb]Ye that would be a great idea to do! But its not going to be as easy as it may sound. This time we had an idea to make a sort of a lottery where one candy out of 50 for example, would be a winner and we would give those winners some free special chocolate bars. Hopefully it will generate more sales then ever before.[/quote:3hvq6dfb] Stas Z, You are right that the idea might seems not easy. But one thing is paramount about ideas, they have never been easy to act on, its now depend on the person who want to execute the ideas. Ideas are ever great but the executor believes always make it work. Cheers!
Re: Twiiter an sales Re: Twiiter an sales - Yeah, a lot of people start using social media and keep at it only to wonder later... is this actually going to affect my sales? I would say the best strategy is try to keep in close contact and cultivate a strong relationship with your Twitter followers so they trust your company when it comes time to actually do business. Hope that helps!
