An Open Hand
Inspiration comes to me from the strangest places.
The other day I was watching “Clean House” a show I am addicted to.
It is all about watching people let go of clutter and free themselves
to function at a higher level. The hostes, Niecy Nash, is a very sassy
woman who speaks real gems sometimes.
On a recent show she was attempting to get a man to part with some
old toys to which he was emotionally attached. Niecy asked him to give
a child the opportunity to love these things as he had.
As she reminded him, a hand that is open to give is also open to receive.
Isn’t that a beautiful idea?
In essence it is the same as the Giver’s Gain philosophy of BNI. If
you want more of something in your life, you have to give something
first.
At this time of year, it is easy to be in the holiday spirit of
giving to family, friends and loved ones. Don’t forget the others in
the world as well including the people who help you all year long like
hairdressers, postal carriers, lawn care providers, day care workers,
housekeepers, etc.
Many of these folks earn less money than you yet they work hard to
make sure you are serviced well. As you do your holiday budgeting, take
time to hand out some gifts to those who make your life easier and more
pleasant.
I think you’ll find that you’ll soon be receiving more than you ever imagined.
