How to be a high performance leader

Written by: Trent Leyshan

Article Overview: The subject of leadership is the quintessential conversation of our generation, particularly at this time of great social change, commercial and political unrest. I believe leadership, [being a leader] to be a character trait, not simply a title you bestow upon a person or entity, without significant reason and evidence over an extended period of time. True 'leadership' is the ability to inspire action through ones own actions. This feat is not as easy to achieve as the definition suggests. Easy in theory - but ever challenging in practice.

How to be a high performance leader

The subject of leadership is the quintessential conversation of our generation, particularly at this time of great social change, commercial and political unrest.

I believe leadership, [being a leader] is a character trait, not simply a title you bestow upon a person or entity, without significant reason or evidence over an extended period of time. True 'leadership' is the ability to inspire action through ones own actions. This feat is not as easy to achieve as the definition suggests. Easy in theory - but ever challenging in practice.

Leaders grace all walks of life, from sport to music and entertainment to politics and commerce. A person's capacity to lead in their chosen field of endeavor is not the only measure of their leadership. Many so called leaders have fallen from grace erroneously outside their chosen field, such as family, sanity, health and wealth, and subsequently removed their capacity to lead their field in the process. The leader as a title can be fickle, if not transitory in nature, unless an individual can lead in all areas of life and sustain it over the long term. Corrupt politicians, alcohol and drug addicted entertainers, ego and greed fueled CEO's are a great case in point.

Like burning meteors, some leaders shine bright and then disintegrate as they clash with the earth's atmosphere. Existing momentarily, but fading into the blackened night sky. Conversely, true leaders and their ideologies and philosophies, the likes of; Mandela, Einstein, Martin Luther King etc, and so forth, stand the tests of time, even long after they've left this earth. Bold, courageous and determined in their endeavours, not succumbing to forces that contradict who they are and what they stand for. Leaders who stand up and shout until they're heard and indeed listened to! To me that defines someone as a true leader at the highest level. This seems to be the road less traveled, yet a road that leads to immortality and without question undeniable and delicious change.

I was given some great advice recently, I will share with you:

Master your subject so well that there is not one question that you cannot answer, and that your answer will cause others to gain a radical insight into their own and other people's lives, and give them the opportunity to transform their lives. They must become stunned and amazed at what you have to offer. You can only do this if you make the subject your main interest, your hobby and your work. And, of course, you live it yourself. Every day, without fail, I study and/or practice some techniques, and have been doing so since I was fifteen. It is also possible to make everything you are involved in an opportunity to practice - your marriage, children, career, fitness and health, consciousness expansion and so on.... Apart from that there is no other secret.

Genuine leadership is not only about performance, it's about stepping up when others fail and taking on responsibility even when you're not responsible. Leadership is a verb not a noun.

Leaders lead and followers follow. I will leave that thought with you.

Inspire,

Trent

Laptop v PC Laptop v PC - My ten cents worth. I switched from PC to laptop and have never looked back, the freedom to work anywhere is fantastic, you can be totally untethered from the office, especially with wireless broadband. Some observations regarding AMD vs Intel Inspiron debate. While there are few office based real world performance issues between the two machines, the AMD initial cost versus its performance is excellent. And it seems to be quieter too.
Key Components Key Components - Two key components for success in network marketing are passion and leadership. As others have said, you have to believe in, or be passionate about, what you are selling. But, just as important, is the development of leadership skills. People want to work with a leader -- someone who can show them the way. So you must take the time to study and become a leader if you want to meet with real success in the network marketing industry.
Re: The Celebrity Apprentice - Episode 5 Re: The Celebrity Apprentice - Episode 5 - [quote="Tami Szabo":214vsguq]Vinny really shot himself in the foot by resigning and then saying something about Piers being a stronger leader. Really, this is about finding the best leader and Vinny just confessed he didn't think he was. He didn't really leave Donald Trump much room to fire Piers after that statement. On the bright side, I was very impressed with Carol as a leader. She is someone I would definitely want to work with. She was respectful of her team and seemed to really utilize the talents of each. Being the winner of "The Celebrity Apprentice" is simply about doing whatever it takes to win the most amount of money for your respective charity (i.e. the last person standing has the honor of delivering a $250,000 bonus check to his/her designated charity). It's all about following the show, "Survivor's" tagline of "outwit, outplay and outlast" and that's why Piers is a strong contender.

The Celebrity Apprentice - Episode 5 The Celebrity Apprentice - Episode 5 - Wow! This week's Celebrity Apprentice was a tough one. I was quite disappointed by the betrayal. I personally didn't think the answer was so simple as to who should go home. I know it's a TV show, but I guess I still think of it as whom I would really want to have on a successful team with me. The strong ethics side of me felt like Piers should have been fired because he didn't respect the ethics of his own team. It also showed up in the end that the majority of his team did not respect him as a leader. That's a huge strike against him. I agree that Vinny could have protested sooner, but I respect that when his conscience got the best of him, he did confess. However, he should have confessed to the whole team and let them know what he said. The slogan was definitely something he shared right at the beginning so it wouldn't have been a surprise at the end. I didn't see any evidence that he shared anything past the time of his confession. Trust would have been shaky, but there would have been far less resulting damage. Vinny really shot himself in the foot by resigning and then saying something about Piers being a stronger leader. Really, this is about finding the best leader and Vinny just confessed he didn't think he was. He didn't really leave Donald Trump much room to fire Piers after that statement.
