If you could offer me one great piece of sales advice what would that be?

If you could offer me one great piece of sales advice what would that be? Be Believable! The number one killer that will stop most salespeople dead in their tracks, ever the really confident ones, is their inability to infuse belief and trust in their customers.

Being believable is not just getting people to follow you - it's also their willingness and peace of mind during the process.

Being believable is easier to achieve when you believe in what you sell and are part of a company that you truly believe in. And a great way to develop your believability is to engage in believable activities outside of your chosen field of endeavour.

Sales training exercise: Next time you're at the supermarket doing grocery shopping, volunteer to carry someone's bags to their car for them. I guarantee your request will be met with some hesitation and even trepidation. The natural response to such a request would be the obvious, "what's the catch?"

But there is no catch. All you're doing is offering to help someone without reward or recognition and in way that benefits them. How you overcome the other persons reaction (if fearful,) to your offer to help them, is how your train yourself to be more believable.

If you are genuine about helping others, you need to develop a way of being that enables you to cut-through your customers fear and get to a place of trust that will allow them to see and experience real value and benefits.

Remember: Training yourself to be more believable only works if you are genuine about helping others. Imposters need not worry themselves with this type of activity.

Contributing to others without repayment is not only rewarding in itself, it helps you develop an inner belief so strong, that it comes to selling, all you have to do is believe in yourself and the selling part takes care of itself.

Inspire,

The great thing is by you posting the crtiques on the forum we are able to go to each other's websites and learn even more tricks based on the critiques you gave others. So I feel that I have benefited in many more ways than one. First by your thorough critique of my site and then by being able to see other sites as case study examples. Thanks, Maja[/quote:58bwv49a] Hi Maja Thank you for the feedback, I was a little bit worried that you may take my advice the wrong way as I do not like to rip websites to pieces but I also do not like to sugar coat them with compliments when I can see obvious changes that could improve your business. If you do action my advice please be sure to let me know how you go with the visitor conversion rates. I would be happy to offer you more advice at anytime, so feel free to ask. Thanks again! Re: outsourcing sales Re: outsourcing sales - Hi GT Thank you for your advice. Yes, initially I would be targetting local businesses and there are currently no other local companies offerring the same product, I've never seen one here before. The main benefits are that you can target areas where large numbers of your target market gather, you can also access pedestrianised zones, town and city centres, areas of high footfall and put adverts directly in front of consumers, you can't turn our ads off and because this advertising medium is so different it will be memorable. I have been advised by the manufacturer that by outsourcing sales I run the risk of those salesman cutting me out, taking the clients and setting up in direct competition with me. Do you have experience of this happening to you personally? If I offer a very competitive rate of commission I would hope to prevent this from happening. Do you have any recommendations for how to identify the right types of sales reps / outsourcing company and what package to offer? thanks
Re: How to Manage Your Emails Re: How to Manage Your Emails - GT has some great advice here and I have aspired to getting there, I am trying at the moment to unsubscribe from people who are constantly wanting to sell me things and to just keep the emails from those who actually give some good information amongst the sales pitches. It is hard to be ruthless, but if anyone has read "The Four Hour Work Week" the advice in there is to get rid of those mails, they distract you from your main task and are just time wasters. Re: Starting customized giftware... Re: Starting customized giftware... - Starting off with a Customized Gift is definitely a great idea. But you have not mentioned anything about what is or are the products that your organization is into. You have also not mentioned what is the target market or who your customers are. But it needs to be mentioned that whom you want to give the gift. There are two different categories of people who visit you. One category is those who are not much interested to buy. They visit the store for inquisitiveness or finding out what you have to offer them. These people can be given some smaller tokens. The other category is of those who buy from you are your real customers and you can give them gifts. The best gift after the sales will definitely be the after sales support and customer services. But these are in the longer run to retain the customers. You can start off with giving some percentage extra depending on what you have to offer. How about Discounts or different Gifts in lieu of purchase of X Amount, Y Amount...
Re: From $0.30 to $300 / Day on Google AdSense Part 1 - How To M Re: From $0.30 to $300 / Day on Google AdSense Part 1 - How To M - Hi Jeff - I`ll likely get into 3rd party advertising later on in the series but what I recommend doing is putting AdSense up as your baseline to test with. Get a sense over a couple of months as to how much you can make from that ad space. Remember that Google takes a percentage of all the money you make through AdSense so it would make sense to charge a higher amount for private ad sales than you`re making through AdSense - the advertisers are paying those rates anyway. Once you know how much your ad space is worth in AdSense, offer up the space to private advertisers with a 30-100% price increase. If you don`t get any takers then you can stick with AdSense... if you do sell the spots then you`re making more than you were with AdSense so it`s worth it. I didn`t have any luck with 3rd party companies who offer to handle the sales for me. Many of them contacted me but when I told them what I made through AdSense and through my own private sales, they said they couldn`t match it. The offer sounds appealing and I was really hoping that a company could take that off my hands but it looks like I`m too well optimized at this point.
