Stand for something - not just anything, something meaningful

Why is meaning important? Meaning helps you find passion and when you find passion amazing things start to happen. Not only do you start to enjoy what you do which is essential to longevity in any role, it also helps your customers filter through the mass of competitors in your market that are all doing and selling the same thing in the same way - to find you!

Most businesses don't stand for anything other than making a profit. How uninspiring! As a customer where would you like to sign? ‘Come on, give me a break, didn't you see the "No Hawkers" sign on the door?'

To create a truly unique and exceptional business you must have meaning and passion, and you need great salespeople inspired and united by purpose. This is what I call ‘real' culture. The sales culture is always the first place I start when I consult with a business.

If you're in the business of selling, your team needs inspirational salespeople that create and develop valuable and long lasting relationships with like-minded customers.

Sure, you can get by in sales being average. And ‘just getting by' is precisely what most sales people do. If you're in business you shouldn't be selling or settling for mediocrity - you should aiming to be the best you can be.

It's also about being unique, and developing a business and a way of being you can be damn proud of because it's the best you. In other words, the naked you!

It might seem that creating a company that sticks its neck way out and stands for something meaningful these days is just too hard. ‘Hey, business is tough, there is no way I am risking changing my business practices to be unique and meaningful. I have bills to pay!' Is it really that hard or are business owners simply too lazy or too shallow? Which one are you?

Re: How to promote yourself in the EvanCarmichael.com Forums Re: How to promote yourself in the EvanCarmichael.com Forums - Good observation, when I first joined here, I looked around, saw the contest, leader-boards, etc. and discovered that were levels of contributions or ranking etc. Never noted such before as this forum is my first active forum, domant and doormat at others - smiles Entrepreneurship is right up my alley, so I felt that this was the place where the time that it take to make a contribution was worth my time. In looking around i found several one-liners from all levels. Following the lead of some, I found something I liked and made a short thank you post. To my honest surprise, I was given credit for a post - which I thought was wrong! I cannot find it, but I made a post that credit should only be given for a meaningful post, or posts of a minimum length. Regardless of the numbers, I am here for a meaningful experience as your suggest, to make a contribution where I see something is missed, to update posts and perhaps answer some unanswered posts, and respond to queries made of me. There were 439 unanswered posts at last count. Great to be here with you and I look forward to your contributions to this forum BTW, I have look more than once (promoting yourself - branding), how should we address you Herts, HertsWebHosting or?

Excited New Member Excited New Member - Greetings everyone! I have stumbled across this web site and am hoping I can engage in some meaningful dialogue with everyone here. I'm very interested in meeting people all over the world, to share internet success stories and engage in discussion about the 'coming' internet commerce environment. Hopefully I will be able to meet some of you through discussions, and I am looking forward to forging new relationships. All the best!

Re: November 17 Triple Crown Update Re: November 17 Triple Crown Update - Thanks, GT. Also, thanks for the reminder about making sure that when we post, it's meaningful and adds to the conversation. Lately I've been seeing a lot of new members who are only posting very general, short posts that don't add much if any value to the discussions. Is there perhaps a way we can get these members to add more value to their posts than what they currently contribute? It's borderline spam, in my opinion. The race to the top for Form Posting is still anyone's game. There's still plenty of time to push past me... lol. Good luck, everyone!
