Business Ideas for Beginners – Outsourced Sales & Marketing

The issue today with starting a B2B (Business to Business) business is the cost of setting up a marketing campaign and recruiting a sales force; this can take a long time and be very costly. Traditionally to reduce cost companies have offered their products to distributers or sales agents, the issue with this is that products are not given the focus to test the real market potential.

Today there are many companies that will offer test marketing and test selling, they have an established sales force and marketing resource and the ability to test sell a product or service very quickly. The other benefit is that the service is very scalable i.e. if you want to test in a specific geographical area or within a certain industry sector and then expand on the success to another area or sector this can be done very quickly.

Outsourced sales resource is a very cost effective solution because you have no recruitment cost, employee costs and little set up costs; most contracts are negotiated on a set up fee, weekly fee plus results bonus. This gives a very quick and easy ROI calculation that compares costs to profit driven.

There are several levels of outsourced sales:

  1. Lead generation - outsource the lead generation to secure appointments and focus your existing sales force into new markets to maximise new revenue streams.
  2. Telesales - Promote and sell your products or services via outsourced telesales teams.
  3. Field Sales - outsourced field sales will increase coverage, attack new markets or even sell a new product or service into existing clients. This has been very successful when you are unable to motivate existing sales staff to promote a new product or service into their client base.
Outsourced Test Sales and Marketing is growing massively and give another option for company growth.

Test sales and marketing gives financiers the guarantees that your products and services are:

A) Priced correctly and Saleable

B) You have a proven defined market

It also enhances business plans with actual cost of sales and proven return figures. Some outsourced contracts will also offer the option for you to recruit the outsourced staff at the end of the contract.

Online Sales and Marketing vs Traditional Online Sales and Marketing vs Traditional - Hi Evan, I am noticing that many of the posts in the Sales/Marketing section deal with online marketing, SEM and and SEO and Affiliates. I was wondering if it might be a good idea to separate that section into two; 1) Online Sales and Marketing; 2) Traditional Sales and Marketing
