10 Commandments to Selling

1.Get your head right, have faith and belief in yourself before you start, read books have therapy, whatever it takes.And tell yourself how good you are everyday.
2. Get your body into shape, takes 30 minutes of exercise 5 times a week, listen to motivational speakers on your ipod as you workout.
3.Read selling skills books for 30 minutes per day, everyday. Plus associated topics, i.e; Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, etc.
4.Set your goals on where you want to be in 1 year time and write them down. Reviewing them on a weekly basis.
5.Once you have a list of your potential customer write a business plan outlining all the key actions you need to take to ensure total coverage of your accounts, maximising your customers awareness of what you can do for them. Leave no stone unturned.
6.Create your own websites for your customers to contract, with all the important information they may need. Highlight benefits of your products/service and add case studies whenever possible.
7.Research your customers before engagement, knowledge is power. You will have improved confidence due to your awareness of what they do as a business. It will also help you establish credibility and provide direction on how to open up the conversation starting with your opening statement.
8.Re-visit your selling skills, give yourself a fine tune before your start.
9.Be very creative when you engage your customer, always highlight what's in it for them and whenever possible mention how your product has helped others. Use referrals to gain credibility.
10.Have Fun at all times, work hard be prepared for the highs and lows and get time out with your partner, family and friends. Sales rocks Regards, PJ.

Business magazines Business magazines - Fast Company is pretty good if you're into technology although it can be very on the edge. Entrepreneur has become one giant advertisement and I cancelled my subscription. Selling Power also has some useful content if you're looking at improving your sales skills / presentations.
