How Discipline and Attitude Can Make the Difference in Your Life, even in these Difficult Times

Maintaining the right attitude in difficult times is not the easiest of tasks, but it is the best thing you can do! With the right attitude in difficult times, realistic goals can be set, planned for, put into action and accomplished. However, both attitude and goal accomplishment have a common denominator, and it is that common denominator that is missing in the lives of most people. You have a choice, maintain a positive attitude or go negative. The easy, and almost natural way for most people is to go negative and become a product of their environment.

The best method in difficult times is to maintain a positive attitude, but it requires you to be disciplined and in control of your life. Discipline is that common denominator.

Your attitude is 100% under your control, as is discipline. You can maintain the right attitude with a little bit of discipline, and have an attitude of discipline or you can fall into society's trap of being a victim of your environment.

"Discipline is a commitment to the most important person in the world. It means doing what you have to do even when you do not want to do it."

Unfortunately most people will fall into the latter and experience tougher times than those who take control of their lives through their attitude and their daily disciplines. Those having the right attitude of discipline will thrive in these difficult times. So, why not make a decision to thrive in these difficult times too?

Maintaining a positive attitude requires you to first believe in you, the most important person in the world. If you believe in you, you will also believe you are here for a reason and that there will be incidents of all sorts in your life. You also know that these incidents, many of which are not under your control, happen for a reason. That reason could be as simple as building character, or getting you back on track to where you belong.

Maintaining a positive attitude in difficult times, whether it be the loss of a loved one, a friend, relative, money or a job is crucial for survival and the realization of your dreams and goals.

For example, If you are thinking about loosing your job, the chances are you will loose your job, and it is reflected in your current attitude. What you think about in life is what you attract. If you add emotions to these thoughts, you are making that attraction even stronger.

Is this what you want to attract into your life? Probably not.

Should you lose your job to downsizing, is it under your control? No!

What is happening in the economy now, is that under your control. NO!

Because the economy is in a downward spiral, people's attitudes follow in that same downward motion. They get negative and they waste time thinking and talking about the things that are not in their control, instead of investing time in the things that are under their control.

How you react to these circumstances and what you think about is 100% under your control, as is your self talk. You need to focus on what is under your control, not what is not under your control.

There are a lot of things in your life that are not under your control - weather, time, people, traffic, etc. If you cannot control them, you need to learn to accept them as they are. All you can do is take control of what is under your control - your attitude, your thoughts, your self-talk and the way you react to these situations.

What you think about, what you say to yourself and the way you act it out is all part of the law of attraction, and is that is under your control. You can attract positive or negative outcomes. Which would you prefer?

Obviously you would prefer positive outcomes. Therefore you need to take control of your thoughts, self talk and reactions to maintain a positive attitude and positive outcomes.

To maintain that positive attitude, you need to be very aware of what you are thinking, saying and doing. You need to catch yourself in the act of self pity, self criticism, jealousy, anger, etc. Then you need to X out that thought, saying or action and replace it with the opposite - a positive thought, saying or action. That is how you maintain a positive attitude, by taking control of the things that are under your control.

However, that requires the discipline of self awareness. Maintaining a positive attitude requires awareness at all times because only when you are in our conscious state can you accept or reject thoughts, self talk or actions.

If you are not disciplined to be aware, and do not reject negative thoughts, they will end up in your subconscious mind. Once it hits your subconscious mind, you do not have the power to reject or accept. It has already been accepted and now goes to work with the laws of nature to attract those thoughts, self talk messages and results into your life.

By making awareness part of your daily discipline you will have the opportunity to take control of your life and attract the circumstances and outcomes you want, as opposed to the outcomes you do not want. So, take control and be aware!

An attitude of discipline will allow you to endure adversity, hardship, setbacks and ultimately achieve success in every area of your life.

With an attitude of discipline you will not be permanently knocked off the bicycle of life. You will stay in control when trouble and heartaches head your way, knowing that it is part of life‘s ups and downs while confirming your vision of your future on a daily basis.

An attitude of discipline means when your plan is not going exactly the way you planned - you press on. It means when others criticize you - you refuse to allow someone else to dictate your thoughts or direction. It means you know who you are. It means you accept 100% responsibility for all of your actions.

An attitude of discipline requires your to adopt many daily attitudes and disciplines. You can never blame someone else, or external forces. You have to take control of your life and the things under your control - your attitude, disciplines, thoughts, self talk, reactions. Only you can make the difference in your life. Take advantage of that message and start to adopt an attitude of discipline today!

Experience has changed my attitude and has shown me that there is an advantage behind every disadvantage. When things happen in your life, they usually happen for a good reason. However, it sometimes takes time to realize the advantage behind the disadvantage. I have lost jobs in the past, yet when I look back at the losses today, they were my greatest opportunities to move on in a better and more rewarding way.

This is a good time to define what you want out of life. This is the time to look into the mirror and reflect on where you are at and where you want to go, what you want to be or do. This is the time to take control of your life, your attitude, and not be a victim of circumstances. This is the time to define what you want and to put a plan together to make it happen.

We all know that just before success comes a brick wall. Loosing your job could be that brick wall. Similarly you are on top of a mountain and you want to maintain that position, or still better, move onto the next mountain top. To maintain that position requires a strong belief that you will survive the downturn, the valley in between. That belief will be reflected in your attitude.

Similarly to move onto the next mountain top also requires belief and determination. However, one also needs to be aware. Aware not only of their thinking and actions, but also aware of obstacles along the way. When you become aware of potential obstacles along the way, you create contingency plans. This way obstacles, like a job loss, is not as critical as it would be for others, simply because you have a contingency plan.

Now is the time to have a proactive attitude. An attitude that is going in the direction that you wan to go. An attitude that incorporates contingency plans, so that no matter what happens, you will be prepared and in control of the way you react. After all, it is your life. Don't you want to live the life you crave?

Re: Make millions with this software Re: Make millions with this software - Hi ideasprosperity, Very good post. It is a real challenge. I think we all can benefit doing a '30 day challenge', especially as we face so much distraction. One thing I learned from a Internet marketer, do not read the emails several times a day. It results in responding and consequently wastes the time. Just one point I will raise, life can get in the way. Discipline is very important factor to keep going on without getting sidetracked. We benefit by being on course like Mike Dillard suggested: Make a list the night before for the following day. It is good to read the previous post several times so that it will sink in to make a difference. Be encouraged
The Second Life Platform The Second Life Platform - Greetings! I'm not sure how many of you have heard of or are sensitive to Second Life and its related entities. However, Second Life is a fantastic platform to mimmick real life business operations in a real currency based economy. There are plenty of successful stories for creative individuals, but I'd highly suggest doing your research and appreciating Second Life for what it is, and what it isn't.

Re: Info for would be franchisers... Re: Info for would be franchisers... - [quote="Sebastien":1d29sdv1]Like Franchise Times, Franchise Update is a very practical magazine. There is no blah blah, just straight facts that anyone in the franchise community can relate to. I just want to mention that all these magazines are NOT franchisee oriented. I mean these magazines are for franchise professionals. If you're looking to buy a franchise, you won't find much information in there. To answer your question, getting published in Franchise Times was fairly easy. I don't want to brag too much but I think I am known in the franchise industry. I was the marketing guy at Franchise.com for a few years before joining my new company, the World Franchising Network. So people know me and I have a very good relationship with Nancy Weingartner, the Managing Editor at Franchise Times. I was talking with her at the last Franchise Expo South in Miami and she mentioned she'd like me to be profiled. I was like "ok, sure!". I like this franchise executive profile thing in Franchise Times as it is rarely BS. People are usually really natural in there.[/quote:1d29sdv1] Thanks for the follow up Sebastien! And I can't say that I'm surprised that networking with the right people and managing your relationships with them properly are the keys to being published. I guess the old adage holds true of "it's not who you know, but who knows you" that's important.
Does a New Company need a "Big" PR firm? Does a New Company need a "Big" PR firm? - I've started work with a brand new company that is going to do loss mitigation. My boss intends to hire a "big" PR firm - ie one that costs a lot of money - because he wants press releases sent out to the New York Times, the LA Times - all the major papers around the country - and he think they'll be more likely to print them if they come from a "big" firm as opposed to a one-person PR firm. I think it doesn't matter where the press release comes from as long as its well written. What are the opinions here?
