Leadership Skills - 5 Skills to embrace

Are you the person that goes through life just taking and getting what you get? Do you want to be the person that embraces what they have worked for because you knew what you wanted and have got what you wanted? If so you need to attend a leadership skills training course. According to the World Future Society the essence of leadership is the ability to see and create the future. I as a leadership skills trainer could not agree more. I expect that through leadership skills training courses you will develop this ability to see and create to become a master of your destiny.

When it comes to leadership I believe that in order to gain success in our lives it ultimately comes down to the quality of our communication with others. I know that we need to tailor our communication so that it becomes compelling for someone else as you will be seen as the master communicator.

There are 5 principles to success that are used in leadership skills training. If you want to be the future Martin Luther King, Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, trainer or even the most difficult of all leadership roles -a parent, you need to be aware of these principles.

  1. Know Your Outcome. As I stated earlier you do not want to be the person that just takes what they are given. If you want to be the builder of your dreams then you need to ask yourself what are your dreams, what do you really want. Once you really know what you want it will empower you and shift your focus on what needs to be changed. Be clear on what you want your outcome to be so that you will not just be settling for what you are given.
  1. Take Action. I heard a great quote on a recent leadership training course and I believe it originally was said by Will Rogers "Even if you are on the right track you will get run over if you just sit there". There is no substitute for taking action in terms of producing the results that you require to get the outcome that you want.
  1. Sensory Awareness. You need to be aware of whether or not the changes and steps that you have taken are actually making a difference. You need to be able to see results and outcomes that you expected.
  1. Change Behaviour. Inevitably if you have not been producing results you need to analyse where the problems are and find solutions to achieve your goals. You need to be willing to have behaviour flexibility. You need to be able to change and do things differently. Another quote I heard on a leadership course was 'the definition of insanity is dong the same thing and expecting different results' I have to say love that quote and yet we still continue to do the same thing and expect miracles
  1. Operate from a physiology and psychology of excellence. Imagine if you were employed in a door to door sales role. You would not stand there with a frown, mumbling with your head and shoulders slouched. You need to be confident, speaking clearly and enthusiastic. If you want to produce results you need to hold your body in a way that's going to do that. Tiger Woods does not slouch over the ball to hit his tee shot, so why should you slouch in your profession.
You must always remember as a leader you are on view at all times and visual communication (your body language) will always outweigh the words you use.

As any leadership skills training course will teach you we all need to go through trial and error to get to where we are and where we want to be. Do not be afraid to take action to build your own hopes and dreams.

A good book I'm reading now is "Maximum Achievement: Strategies and Skills That Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed" by Brian Tracy as it was a birthday gift from a friend. Tracy's book is helpful in identifying what's important in your life and then setting an action plan to achieve it.

Skills & Experience:- You should have business and management experience and contacts in your area of expertise. With your business experience you are more likely to be able to make a sensible judgment about whether the company seeking money is likely to succeed. You will also be able to contribute more to the management of the company. If your business experience is limited , the most sensible option would be to seek to invest alongside people who are experienced , in a syndicate......................
niche forum categories niche forum categories - I think Kevin just touched on the point that I was going make... and that is developing 'categories' that stick. Sales and Marketing may be too broad for example. However I can almost guarantee you that you would see many more sign-ups if you tailored a category to 'internet marketing' for newbies. I've seen this work on other forums, however, [i:1i903wkn]it can get a little frantic[/i:1i903wkn]... Fine tuning the categories, or expanding the scope should be effective. I think a lot of IM folks are surfing right on by because they're not finding what they're looking for here... The signature links to their site - if they have one - can / should be motivation enough to get more involved. The more internet savvy members that have signatures seem to stick around more... Re: Business Women Peer Mentoring Spotlight Re: Business Women Peer Mentoring Spotlight - Hi Everyone, Gosh, I REALLY appreciate your concrete feedback. This was far more than I expected and I'm glad you said what you thought straight out. Each of you have shared something of value and I want to take some more time to think and really go over what each of you have said. However, I can see there are some things I need to change right away. What an interesting point about a NEW program perhaps making people think they are guinea pigs! This is NOT what I want to convey! It's funny how we can see some things so clearly in others while not always seeing it for ourselves! I must admit there are a few things I've been meaning to change (like my bio which is very outdated). Obviously, these things need to be higher on my priority list. You caught me like the plumber who puts his clients first and doesn't get around to fixing his own tap! As far as my target market, I do feel quite strongly about working with Women Leaders and doing Leadership Coaching with them. It's non-negotiable in my books. In my Executive Coaching training, the terms "Leaders" and "Executives" are interchangable. To me, an Executive is a Leader and so is the Business Woman or Entrepreneur who is CEO of her own business. I love working with decision makers! What I did learn is that I need to avoid opening up the Leadership term beyond what I described above. I'm also wondering if there is a misunderstanding with the general public as to what Leadership Coaching really is. Leadership Coaching is all about developing your leadership skills, both as a people manager and in more effectively running and growing the business. There is ALWAYS room for growth in some way. As well, sometimes, we just need a sounding board to clarify what our next BEST step is. In fact, if a woman thinks she has nothing to work on, then we aren't a good Client/Coach fit anyway. How can she grow if she doesn't see the value of expressing ALL of the great ability within her? How can her company grow if she doesn't see the value of strategic planning for the next best level? Thanks again to you all! I will go back to my website and really question whether I am conveying the right message. I got more than I bargained for in this Spotlight... you generously offered way more than I was asking. I think we could be on to something great for the Forum. Now it's time to let someone else have the spotlight. It would be great if everyone took a turn! In gratitude, Tami
