So, for example, you might be minding your own business during a meeting when the boss says “tell us about your recent course” or “what do you feel about...”. If more than a few words are required, below you’ll find a formula to follow. Learn it, use it - and people will be greatly impressed by this skill Step One: Thank the person who has asked you to speak for the opportunity (even if you don't mean it)
Step Two: Express an eagerness to speak - this and the previous point give you a few moments to gather your thoughts
Step Three: Highlight the two - or maximum three - brief points you want to cover Step Four: Briefly cover each point - expressing them in terms that your audience will both understand and appreciate Step Five: Again, thank the person who invited you to speak for the opportunity - and finish on a positive “looking to the future” point Here's an example: “Sue, tell us about the Customer Satisfaction Report you’re preparing”
“Thanks Mr Jones, I’m delighted to take a couple of minutes to highlight this important innovation. I’d like to cover the reason we decided to go ahead, the format and a couple of preliminary findings. (Cover these areas). So, I’m sure you’ll all be eager to get your copy of the finished document. It’ll be available a week on Friday. Thanks again for the chance to tell you a bit about it”
