TV Stations inventing the “good new days”

We in the TV business and elsewhere are in the middle of a revolution. The "good old days" are gone and we are now inventing the "good new days."

"The nature of the last era was that repetition and management of results increased profits. The nature of this one is the opposite: if someone can tell you precisely what to do, it's too late." ~Seth Godin

Social Media (which, by the way, is much more than facebook and twitter) is taking the power away from the formerly powerful -traditional media and those with huge advertising and marketing budgets telling us what to think buy and admire.

Yet, many keep waiting for directions that will never come and, when they do, it will be too late for you to succeed or grow. Someone else will have eaten your lunch.

AEs ask for direction. Sales Managers want to be told how to make budget. News Directors want Best Practices. General Managers delegate to others and expect them to make it happen.

Now is the time to take responsibility and initiative. Sitting back is an option but if you pick that one please don't complain when you get left behind.

Re: I call my invention "The Wheel" but so far I've been unable Re: I call my invention "The Wheel" but so far I've been unable - Words words words The problem our friend has here is that he thought he was inventing a Wheel, when in reality he has a designed a perfectly good junction for incoming and outgoing pipes used all over the world - most often made of brinks and concrete in the same shape Isn't innovation grate, sorry great!
Re: Infographic: The 4 Main Stress Factors Re: Infographic: The 4 Main Stress Factors - I'd like to reference that article in my next blog post as well.. I worked in sales for years and found that days when I was positive, relaxed where days that it was easy to sell. On days that I was stressed I found I would not reach target. Stress is good at times, but it very easily becomes problematic. I do a lot of very physical exercise and work now, to manage it.
Re: Social Bookmarking Site List Re: Social Bookmarking Site List - Good List - over time these resources will be weeded out though . . . look for the tools that are more used to organize, well, tools. Addthis has done a great job of that - its like everyone inventing the wheel at once sometimes however.
Re: Invoicing Re: Invoicing - Thanks guys! So much to think about! I think... [quote:1t2qr50i]paid 50% deposit and 50% at completion[/quote:1t2qr50i] Is a good idea, Im currently invoicing when work is complete, then asking for payment after 30 days, if payment hasnt been received by day 30, I send out another reminder to pay within 7 days or else. But going to court under a certain amount isnt worth the hassle, I wish some companies would get there act together (rant over). Also offering 2% discount Net 10 days is also good too! [quote:1t2qr50i]Do you really need these clients anyway?[/quote:1t2qr50i] Very true but sometimes its easy money for the work involve, I guess its just getting the balance right! Thanks Kevin for your example, very clear and to the point, Im sure I will be implementing this in the future.
