Today's "rant" - rant!

OK – I have had people tell me they don’t think I should use the word “rant” in my blog, especially in the title. They feel it is too strong a word, starts the blog out on a negative note and could be offensive to many. The other comment is people who know me don’t think of me as a “ranter.” I respect all opinions but…

Since I starting using “rant” in my title my opens have grown substantially and if readers don’t open the blog what good is it?! My number of forwards has also grown substantially so that leads me to believe more people are being exposed and, to a blogger, that is a good thing.

So here’s the deal – I need to hear from as many of you as possible. I write this for you so tell me what you think. Please post for all to see. Do I continue to call my blog “Today’s rant” or do I change it? If I change it, what do you suggest?

Thanks – and please post to my website. We are all friends here!

Re: Watch What you Read Re: Watch What you Read - I agree. i believe more video's should be like Jeffery Gitomers video's under his Sales rant. They are typically not more than 3 minutes. His model seems to be; 1. Main Message (or Point) 2. Example 3. Next steps to put it into Action take away the extra "blabber" and you've got viewers that will come back.
Writing articles Writing articles - Well...I don't think this is the proper forum to ask this question, but I'll give a shot at answering it. First, we need to know so much more information! How many words does each article have to be? If the main article that you pay for can be a thousand words, and if several topics are covered, then you just take each topic and break it out and reword it/rewrite it more closely for that topic. I'm not sure the younger generation these days would recognized bad grammar, bad spelling, and bad arguments if they saw them... [pause here to prevent myself from going off on a rant about our educational system] but anyone over the age of 30 probably/hopefully would, and would care about it! And always remember you get what you pay for.
Re: Search Engine Optimization Guide for All Re: Search Engine Optimization Guide for All - I agree with bizwebideas that it is QUALITY content that counts. What baffles me is the amount of time some people spend trying to get out of actually writing quality articles by using "article spinners" and all that junk. If you use your loaf, you can write a 450 word article much more quickly and of much better quality than it takes you to spin a horrible article that is of no use to man or beast. Anyway, thanks for the SEO and article posting tips, and excuse my rant!
Re: Invoicing Re: Invoicing - Thanks guys! So much to think about! I think... [quote:1t2qr50i]paid 50% deposit and 50% at completion[/quote:1t2qr50i] Is a good idea, Im currently invoicing when work is complete, then asking for payment after 30 days, if payment hasnt been received by day 30, I send out another reminder to pay within 7 days or else. But going to court under a certain amount isnt worth the hassle, I wish some companies would get there act together (rant over). Also offering 2% discount Net 10 days is also good too! [quote:1t2qr50i]Do you really need these clients anyway?[/quote:1t2qr50i] Very true but sometimes its easy money for the work involve, I guess its just getting the balance right! Thanks Kevin for your example, very clear and to the point, Im sure I will be implementing this in the future.
Subject line Etiquette Subject line Etiquette - Another email rant: Is there some place on the internet that outlines proper "Subject line" headings? There mus be a system out there that people use to be more efficient email senders. Not everything that comes into my mail box requires my immediate attention. I would love to educate myself and the people who send me emails on proper subject lines. Maybe something like: "Urgent Review: <<Title of document>>" "Decision Required: "<<Subject matter>>" just something for me to quickly scan the subject lines and decide which ones need my immediate attention. Anyone know of such email standards that exist out there?
