Today's "rant" - stress

If you are in TV Sales or the TV business you are a competitor. Ever notice we do our best when our body is allowed to do its thing naturally? Golf commentators will often talk about the simplicity of a golf swing, figure skating (my sport) is all about balance and concentrating on being centered, uncomplicated and free.

Over stressed athletes usually end up hurt and seldom perform optimally.

So why do we think putting more stress on our people will produce better results? Here are some serious stress producers you may want to examine:

  1. Silence
  2. Yelling
  3. Additional CYA reports
  4. More meetings
  5. Eliminated training
  6. Threats (overt, covert)
  7. Longer work hours (forced or just expected)
  8. Unrealistic budgets
  9. Expecting more from fewer
  10. Fear
Unneeded stress produces injuries, not wins.

Re: Watch What you Read Re: Watch What you Read - I agree. i believe more video's should be like Jeffery Gitomers video's under his Sales rant. They are typically not more than 3 minutes. His model seems to be; 1. Main Message (or Point) 2. Example 3. Next steps to put it into Action take away the extra "blabber" and you've got viewers that will come back.
Lease out the Building Lease out the Building - I would just lease out the building, as you could charge higher rates with the Wal-Mart across the road. You have much less stress then, and then you would if you had to run your own business as well.
Writing articles Writing articles - Well...I don't think this is the proper forum to ask this question, but I'll give a shot at answering it. First, we need to know so much more information! How many words does each article have to be? If the main article that you pay for can be a thousand words, and if several topics are covered, then you just take each topic and break it out and reword it/rewrite it more closely for that topic. I'm not sure the younger generation these days would recognized bad grammar, bad spelling, and bad arguments if they saw them... [pause here to prevent myself from going off on a rant about our educational system] but anyone over the age of 30 probably/hopefully would, and would care about it! And always remember you get what you pay for.
Re: Search Engine Optimization Guide for All Re: Search Engine Optimization Guide for All - I agree with bizwebideas that it is QUALITY content that counts. What baffles me is the amount of time some people spend trying to get out of actually writing quality articles by using "article spinners" and all that junk. If you use your loaf, you can write a 450 word article much more quickly and of much better quality than it takes you to spin a horrible article that is of no use to man or beast. Anyway, thanks for the SEO and article posting tips, and excuse my rant!
Re: Would you pass on a media opportunity? Re: Would you pass on a media opportunity? - I think you shouldn't let an oppurtunity like this pass, since I must say, this is very very rare and you are lucky enough to be a recipient of one. By short notice, I think you should try to review the basics of the business or whatever it is that might be a possible question that the interviewer will ask you. Aside from this, I think you should relieve yourself of all stress that can really cause you nervousness or what is very foreboding: a mental block.
