With a $5,000 loan and no formal business training, Ed Abel started his first business when he was 24 years old. Within 7 years, he built it into a $36 million business with 585 employees. Ed went on to build other successful businesses using the principles he learned "in the trenches." Always knowing that his experience and talent for building successful companies would be utilized for a bigger plan, he found his calling - coaching, leading, and advising others on their path to success. Ed Abel created "The Ten Commandments for Business Success": comprehensive principles by which to grow any small business. In identifying and deciphering the "Mastermind" process that has been used as far back by Benjamin Franklin, Ed saw a tremendous opportunity to further his mission. Now, "The Mastermind Business Alliance Group" (MBA-Group) brings that process to small business owners everywhere, offering a solution little known to most in the business world. I'm the founder & publisher of . I help small business owners define & focus on those activities that will help them reach their goals. Neel Roberts, President and Founder of PTC Canada took his first accounting course at age 15. During a high school night course that same year, he completed his first tax return, which opened the world of income taxes to him. He completed all of the accounting courses he could in high school before entering York University in Toronto to major in Economics. Roberts used a “customer first” approach learned in previous companies such as FedEx to launch PTC Canada in 1998. Shortly after Roberts first ad campaign he realized that business didn’t stop after tax season. Tripling his sales with “late filers” Roberts realized the huge number of individuals and small businesses who needed his help after tax deadlines. Roberts is one of only a few experts who specialize in late tax filers for individuals and small businesses. As of 2004, PTC Canada serves over 1,000 tax payers and clients all over the world. Roberts’ “hands on” approach to working for the client is reflective in his work ethic.

What is the difference between Consultants and Counsellors? The clearest distinction between Consultants and Counsellors is that Consultants 'think, recommend and vision' whilst Counsellors typically 'analyze, think, recommend, vision, act, teach and guide implementation'. Consultants are on the ‘outside’ working in an advisory capacity only; whereas a Counsellor is first on the ‘outside’ using the Business Physical to analyze and then guide on the ‘inside’. A Counsellor is a cross of advisor, teacher, mediator, coach. This means that there is a transfer of knowledge and skills while training you. We like teaching how to fish instead of like a consultant who wants to fish for you. Based on the unbiased analysis they have the ability to select the best course of action and the time and energy to guide the implementation. The Counsellor will become a part of your advisory team and fully engaged as your advisor, teacher, mediator, whereas a Consultant will also have a responsibility to the firm who placed them. Many of our clients keep us on retainer even after the whole process is completed, like a business doctor.

Author Michael D. Jenkins, is a graduate of the Harvard Law School and has practiced as a tax attorney and a CPA with major California law and CPA firms and with a major national management and economics consulting firm in Washington, D.C.. Since 1981, he has authored the "Starting and Operating a Business" series of small business guidebooks for each of the 50 states and D.C., all of which are now published only in electronic format (e-books with included Windows software that customizes the book for the user's specific business). Each 2006 or 2007 state edition is roughly 500 to 600 pages, if printed out, and each is bundled with the Small Business Advisor (Windows) software, which interviews the reader about his/her business and then assembles a customized version of the book, based on the facts and applicable federal and state laws for that specific business.
