Certainly, modern companies are discovering that they operate multiple supply chain processes, most of them linked to other supply chains to verying degrees.
Let me give a high tech example: Your R&D crew says the bugs should be out of the new amazing world-beater prototype by the end of the year, so you give out initial Invitations to Tender to potential subcontractors. But then R&D puts off their delivery date by six months! Both supply chain planning functions are impacted by this news.
Optimizing a singularly focused supply chain means that many of the components are sub-optimized in deference to an overall system optimization outcome. This principle is even more applicable in multiple-linked supply chains whose goals are to produce an integrated, successful and profitable outcome which mazimises customer satisfaction. Creating new software tools which will be able to integrate these complementary supply chain channels for optimal production is already underway.
Perhaps a new title we might expect to see for future senior corporate supply chain executies would now be described as "Chief Supply Chains Officer" or "Vice President, Supply Chains"
It's never dull!

- Hi Yinka,
I work better under pressure of deadlines when I am doing something for other people. However, I like to have the leisure to develop my own projects. The first case is what Stephen Covey calls a "Quadrant 1" activity ("Important and urgent") whereas the second case is a "Quadrant 2" activity ("Important, not urgent").
We should aim to make as much time as possible for Q2 activities so that we can develop our own projects. Easier said than done!
Survey the Landlord
- Terry,
my suggestion is simple but powerful - Survey.
Survey Landlords and find out what is important to them.
By doing this it does two things:
1. You will find out trends/under-operated services that Landlords are currently unsatisfied with = your client will be able to fulfill
2. You are infact Marketing your clients services by doign this because when you are approaching your landlords it not a sales pitch and they have someone to clear their frustrations with. Then when you approach them after a month (when you've put your numbers together and identified services that are most important) you can remind them of the survey and share with them the results. At this point you can end with an offer to use your clients services to manage their property.
I use this method with my clients who are looking for new services to develop in thier markets. It's simple but powerful.

- Like GT and David I use Get Response and have not had any problems with them other than when they were converting to their upgrade. So as long as they continue to give me the service I will stick with them. I know that most people recommend Aweber.

re: Cross Linking, how do you define that? I thought linking to other pages on your website (that are related) was a good thing...maybe that's not what you meant.
