In every Meeting/Gathering/Social events there are one or two people who stand out and automatically assume the mantle of a leader? What differentiates them from the rest?

A passion for what they do, and a willingness to share it despite the "risks."

I am not talking about the boastful escapades of someoneone seeking attention, but of an honorable belief in who and what they are, and a willingness to take risks and be vulnerable.

Anytime you move from the periphery of true interaction to honest engagement and the sharing of ideas, thoughts etc. there is a risk of rejection. And I believe that it is this fear which neutralizes most people.

What is interesting is that no matter what station in life you may attain, all of us have and do to varying degrees feel this way at one time or another.

If you recognize and acknowledge this feeling, it provides you with that perfect balance of empathy, "healthy" fear otherwise known as humility and the courage to step up to the plate to make a difference.

In essence, it shifts the focus from you and how you feel, to what you have to contribute to a collective good of others.

In business, this "attitude of service" is essential to sustainable success.

Do you have what it takes? Do you have what it takes? - [i:237t830b]USA Today [/i:237t830b]asked the very same question and came up with a set of questions to determine if you would make a good entrepreneur: 1. Are you a self-starter? 2. Do you like to take risks? 3. Are you a leader? 4. Do you like to assume responsibility? 5. Are you organized? 6. How hard do you work while at work? 7. Are you decisive? 8. Can you live with uncertainty? 9. Can you stick with it? 10. Do you have good health? 11. Are you competitive? 12. Do you have a lot of willpower and self-discipline? 13. Do you plan ahead? 14. Are you creative? 15. Can you live without structure? I bet all those people at the UCT GSB would answer yes to all of the above.
Toronto Business Events Toronto Business Events - Thanks JP - I used to put on events 2-3 times per month in partnership with Indigo to help Toronto entrepreneurs. They were great events and we had over 70 people attending but they were a lot of work to organize and put together. More recently I've been doing seminars on either Modeling Masters, raising financing, or internet marketing that are put together through other organizations. All I have to do is show up, deliver a great presentation and help local entrepreneurs - they take care of the logistics. I might be doing some more JCI events depending on how my discussions go with them in the next few weeks. I appreciate the support!
