Are You Fishing For Customers?

What type of bait are you using to lure your customers in? Are you putting out your best products and services or are you trying to get rid of old stock? Only fresh bait will do to get the best fish and your customers know that too!

Who are your customers? Are they snapper, snook, tommies or garfish? You need to find bait or lures that will impact those particular customers. If you aim for everyone, you will miss everyone. Not every fish will eat every bait and they like different sized hooks too.

When you have worked out what type of bait you will be using, don't be too complicated, you are not going to be able to fit all the available baits on one hook. Ask your customers why they come to you and what they enjoy about purchasing products and services from you and then select just a few different baits and try them out.

Why are your products and services so special? Your customers need to feel special when making a purchase. The bait has to be put out the right way and when you reel them in, you have to be sure not to go too fast so as to scare them off! What feelings do your buyers have when they purchase your products and services?

Are they the kind of customers that you want or do they cost you valuable time and bait in the boat? Are you able to handle their needs or can you refer them onto someone else that can better meet their needs? In other words, is your business equipped to handle the different needs of different types of fish?

Where do your customers live? How do you inform them about your products and services? Throw them some berley so they know you are there and then advertise your product or service benefits with a lure or bait.

So once you have worked out what bait and berley you need for obtaining more customers, make sure that your boat is big enough to handle the extra fish. Have the necessary policies and procedures (tackle) in place to handle the extra work-load.

Re: pitching Re: pitching - Friendliness is closely related to the concept of "permission marketing" as articulated by Seth Godin. The old method was "interruption marketing" where you suddenly get an ad in your face whether you want it or not...
20% increase 20% increase - One of my businesses uses a system to help business owners manage customer relationships and encourage more referrals. I'm finding that this economy is making business owners take a second look at their business and it's assets (aka customers) to see how they can leverage them. Make those Customers (one-time sale) into Clients (repeat sales). I'm finding them more open to having this discussion with me and the results are speaking for itself. Everyone I've worked with so far has seen at least a 20% increase in sales or referrals within 4-6 months all done by managing an existing relationship.
