How using a DISC Profiling System Can Benefit Your Organisation

Guest post by: Ann-Marie Gil

Article Overview: A DISC Profiling System identifies the characteristics of individuals as being dominance, influence, steadiness or compliance. Dominance is the person's ability to get their point across in a challenging environment, which ranges from Passive to Aggressive. Influence is a their ability to persuade others, people rating high are friendly and suited to customer service or sales. With Steadiness, they like to remain in one job and don't like a lot of change or variety, this is a good trait for data entry jobs. Compliance is a person's ability to follow rules, they are a stickler for regulations and guidelines and have little flexibility. The benefits of DISC Profiling Systems follow.

How using a DISC Profiling System Can Benefit Your Organisation

A DISC Profilling System could benefit your business in the following ways:

  1. Clear identification of learning and working styles.
  2. To avoid the placement of 2 dominant people working together all the time as they would both want to be leaders.
  3. You can place people in roles which are more suitable to their behaviours.
  4. To get the right mixture of different people in a team when their roles and behaviours are varied and suitable for them.
  5. To know where your team members fit into the above categories and ensure their roles reflect their natural abilities.
  6. Most people are a blend of several different behaviour types, they will generally have a dominant behaviour type and may be leading towards trying to be another behaviour type.
  7. Have the whole team assessed for their behaviour types and when recruiting, find someone that "blends" into the mix as well as having the relevant skills and experience.
  8. Behaviour identification is not something that can not be found out from just a job interview, but usually takes time in getting to know the person. In a job interview, it is common for a person to sell themselves into a role without addressing their behaviour, as you are addressing other characteristics such as relevant experience and presentation.
  9. Some candidates may not present very well in a job interview but may have more of the behaviour characterstics to fit into your team and could possibly have the relevant skills and experience.
Business Success uses and recommends Extended DISC which provides a very comprehensive report about individuals, working pairs and teams, which is available as a service through the internet. You can purchase these reports through Business Success whom can also assist you in interpreting those reports.

Marketing Your Software To The Public Marketing Your Software To The Public - Hello! Over the past few months I have been experimenting with no cost ways to effectively market our "Time Management" software. We have created two products. The one solution is geared towards lawyers with special features to handle accounts for The Office of the Children's Lawyer and Legal Aid. For those lawyers who deal with these accounts you will know what i talking about. Other software developers have been contacted but none have included such features in their products claiming that the market was too small. The other product we have created can be configured to work for almost any time related business. With the "Profiling System" you could virtually run any number of business form just one copy. We have been talking all advice from the wonder people who have taken the time to provide us with their advice. From this we have come up with the following results: We sent over 60,000 directed email newsletters - received 7 inquiries and 9 downloads. We have listed our company on over 40 business promotion websites. - traffic increased slightly We sent up developer account with Esellerate to enable us to sell our products online. Once the financial transaction has completed the purchaser can download the software immediately. Other affiliate resellers have are also promoting our products. - Awaiting sales We have posted our products on over 400 repositories as shareware. We can do this because we have a 90 day trial period. We have further, created links to many of the higher traffic sites and have increased traffic to our site. - In the past 2-1/2 months we have received over 10,600 downloads. I hope this information proves useful to other small developers trying to get a start. Boomer
Re: What or Who Sparks Your Business Interest Re: What or Who Sparks Your Business Interest - It's interesting to see what the different motivations are by Age Category. I've noticed this around me: 20 to 29yr olds: Motivator: Money 30 to 39yr olds: Motivator: Success/Ambition 40 to 49yr olds: Motivator: Family comes first 50 to 59yr olds: Motivator: Leaving a legacy i've only gone that far in my analysis. Of course this is a braid generalization but I find that it helps direct my marketing to individuals in different age brackets. The product/service can be the same but the Marketing message (Benefit Statement) to a 20 year will revolve around "Money" vs. a 30-something would be on their "Self Image"

Re: What or Who Sparks Your Business Interest Re: What or Who Sparks Your Business Interest - I guess the business bug has always been with me as I was brought up in a public house. My parents were publicans, so were my grandparents, and later so were my brother and myself. I've also managed a café, co-owned a snack bar and also a second hand store, which is where I discovered computers and the Internet as someone came in one day and asked "can you sell this for me" referring to his computer. After that I learned how to build one from scratch, install the Operating System and then went online to find out how everything worked and how to maintain computers properly. All the time I was doing this there was a thought at the back of my mind telling me that I could make a living on the Internet and eventually I made up my mind to do just that.
