How to Be Different in a Homogeneous Business World

Article Overview: It's hard, isn't it? Making your service business stand out from the rest is a challenging task. When it comes down to it, every realtor helps people buy or sell property. How to Be Different in a Homogeneous Business World

It's hard, isn't it? Making your service business stand out from the rest is a challenging task. When it comes down to it, every realtor helps people buy or sell property. That's it. Every consultant offers advice that will either help people avoid pain or increase pleasure. Every doctor diagnoses illness and prescribes a remedy. Every salesperson offers a product that is strikingly similar to the competition's offering. What do you need to do to stand out?

There are two primary ways service business owners can differentiate their business from the sea of competitors. First, they can emphasize results and deliver on their promises. Second, they can enhance their image in the eyes of consumers. Let's delve into those two tasks.

Delivery and Timeliness of Results

The only thing better than a job well done is a job done quickly. If you can get your client where he wants to be faster than the other guy can, you are on your way to gaining market share. Not only will your clients be happier because you saved them time, but you will have more time to handle more clients than the competition - if that's what you want. You could also use your time to recharge your batteries and have a little fun.

Upgrading Your Image

There are so many ways to upgrade your image. Creating a new, sexier website is a start. Starting a blog can help you seem knowledgeable and attentive. Being on Facebook can help you seem more personable. Getting on Twitter makes you seem hip and friendly. LinkedIn has some innovative ways to enhance your image. Doing all these things will certainly make you look cool, and that is never a bad thing. In the end, you will get hired because people know what you do and like who you are. Upgrading your image can help people get to know the real you, increasing your likeability and trustworthiness.

Start making yourself stand out by delivering faster or better service than your competitors and upgrading your image.

Who Said Twitter Doesn't Work...? Who Said Twitter Doesn't Work...? - Last month, the BBC World Service programme, The Strand, featured 21 year-old Icelandic pianist/composer Olafur Arnalds. Arnalds achieved extraordinary success through his internet-led project to compose 7 tunes in 7 days, post them on his website and then post links to it via TWITTER. As a result his website got thousands of visitors eager to listen to his music, catapulting him to fame and bringing his music to the attention of the BBC, who featured an interview with him on the World Service programme, The Strand! So who says Twitter doesn't work? (HINT: It does help if you have something uniquely your own that other people want to get hold of...)

I don’t know about b2b marketing but I have done marketing so know things about it. I will suggest you to take online services which will spread your business all over web network. Online marketing is the best way to market any business.[/quote:428owzbi] B2B = Business to Business - You are marketing to other businesses. B2C = Business to Consumer - You are marketing to consumers.
