Qualities of Excellent Leaders: Leading an Organization to Triple Digit Growth
Vision. If your company has been established for any length of time, it will be nearly impossible to double revenue without first thinking that it might be a possibility. In this economy, many business leaders doubt the potential in the marketplace. That is to their detriment. Perhaps you will not be able to experience 100%+ increases with your current marketing systems and practices, but maybe it can be done if you make some changes. Which brings me to my second point.
Flexibility. The old adage that "what got you here is not going to get you where you want to go" holds true. Leaders who bring their organizations to new heights of success are willing to sacrifice old marketing and sales practices and embrace new systems.
Embrace Imperfection. As leaders we hold ourselves to the highest standards, and rightfully so. But the best leaders can remember the days when mistakes were plentiful and successes were few. Those days prepare us to handle future disappointments with grace and dignity. As we become more established and the time comes to implement changes within our companies, mistakes are bound to happen. Recall the lessons from earlier problems and handle it well. The good news is that perfection has never been a requirement for success. As time passes and the new systems become a part of our practices, dormant competencies will arise and more than make up for any problems we had while learning the new techniques.
Learn from Mistakes. While embracing imperfection is important, learning from mistakes is even more critical. We want to build competencies as soon as possible and shore up any weak spots in our processes.
Take Massive Action. There is a unique opportunity for growth right now. So many of our competitors are sitting on their hands wondering what the government will do, predicting when the economy will recover, watching the news, and generally worrying about life and business. It is human nature to do those things. But it has created an opportunity for those of us who want to see sales rise to aggressively pursue growth while the competition focuses on other things.
Doubling revenue is possible, even now. Implement these attributes into your business and give your company a chance to do what most would deem impossible.
