Pushing Past Procrastination - The Revelation

Procrastination requires some strategies on how to overcome the "Habit of Procrastination". I'd like to dig a bit deeper this time and address the possible causes of procrastination and how to blast through the things holding you back. The Revelation of Procrastination:

If you are putting something off, maybe there is something underneath that you aren't aware of. Sometimes procrastination is really a signal that you may be on a mindset land mine! I'll give you an example - imagine you have a big project to do that would generate a nice chunk of $. Suddenly, in spite of all the pushing and encouragement from those around you, inertia sets in. No matter what you do, this puppy isn't getting pushed out! If you use the process below, you can discover what's underneath.

1. Acknowledge you are stuck.

2. Find the 'part' of you that is stuck or blocked.

3. Ask what it's afraid of?

4. Ask what it's trying to protect you from?

5. Listen for the answer...even if it seems a bit crazy to you.

What you may discover is that there is a part of you who feels undeserving of that success and the $ that was coming in. The procrastination is just that part's way of keeping you safe. (This is a big coaching trick I use when my clients are stuck! If you discover you can't move past this, you may want to have a Mindset Breakthrough Session, and we'll knock it out!)

Do I have you on the edge of your seat to find out in my next post about how procrastination can actually serve you, if you let it? Stay tuned for"The Perfection of Procrastination".

Blessings,

Therese

Re: What is your biggest challenge? Today? Re: What is your biggest challenge? Today? - My biggest challenge is focusing. There are so many things I want to do and ideas that I have. I can never decide what to do next and when I do decide it's hard to focus on it and get it done. Procrastination is the resulting outcome.
Re: Partner with Sony Pictures.Coca-Cola and Toyota Re: Partner with Sony Pictures.Coca-Cola and Toyota - I've truly always been amazed by small businesses who have big name company's listed on their websites with whom they have done work for or partnered in the Past. Has anyone on the Forum has such a partnership with large organizations or Brand name companies? Would you mind sharing how you were able to set up the partnership without giving away names of people you work with?
Re: Welcome New Moderators in Addition to Our Fine Team! Re: Welcome New Moderators in Addition to Our Fine Team! - Hello everyone, and Thanks for the introduction Ringo! This is going to be a great experience for me and for everyone in the community. I hope to learn a lot from you and I know there is something I can share with all of you. Past, Present, Future. Before I started my own business I worked in the north Canadian oilfields drilling for natural gas. I worked long hard hours and spent a month at a time away from home. It's when I started to burn out that I realized that there is more to it than wasting my life, secluded away from civilization and the people I cared for most. A friend of mine introduced me to a business opportunity which not only offered me the chance to fire my boss and walk away from a less than perfect lifestyle but it gave me the chance to make an income that was more than sufficient to support me and my fiance. I pounced on the opportunity like a cat on a mouse. Since then I have been working from home helping others break away from their "less than perfect situation" by mentoring them in the ways of marketing. I will continue on this path teaching, helping and coaching until I'm to old to use a computer. I feel honored to have this opportunity to share and grow with the community. I look forward to talking to you all. Dallas.
Re: How to Manage Your Emails Re: How to Manage Your Emails - Kevin - I have a lot of subfolders and I've been creating rules for new emails, using outlook. In a perfect world this could be done as the messages come in so 'future' messages will get routed right into their little folders - the thing is, you have to remember to scan those folders or you miss the incoming messages. Some of my Subfolders - Vendors Current Projects Estimates Past Clients Forums Friends and Family My Websites GT - [quote:3xmyx5l3]Hi, Russell: Sad to say, I am visually oriented ... which (for me) simply means "Out of sight, out of mind." (Hey. The wife has been saying that second part about me for years!) I haven't been able to take advantage of email filtering options - or, I haven't made the attempt to. My concern is that I will get lazy about checking all those filtered files and will miss something important. I like to see it in my inbox in the order they came in so I KNOW it's there and can deal with them one at a time. For me (being visual), it would be frustrating to have to check SEVERAL folders each time I look at my mail just to see if something new came into those folders. I want it front and center so I don't miss it.[/quote:3xmyx5l3] In this case you could track incoming emails if all previous msgs are opened - Then you scan n your subfolders for new 'unopened emails'. It works for me - though I get your point completely...
