Adjusting To The Moment Can Be Dangerous
Adjusting To The Moment Can Be Dangerous
Many people adjust their lives moment-to-moment rather than setting forth specific plans and sticking to them. Obstacles will always come on the way to your goals and it is up to you to stay disciplined, without fear, and maintain focus on what you want.
If you lose focus and adjust for every apparent obstacle in your way, you'll probably never achieve your objective. Adjusting to the Moment can be dangerous!
Life is filled with problems. The distinctions between successful people and unsuccessful people are not much, but one of the main differences is how accomplished people deal with moment-to-moment challenges.
Let's first look at the unsuccessful person and how he handles obstacles on his way to going for his goals. This guy will set a goal with good intentions of achieving it. Then, he starts the action steps (this guy is one of the few motivated unsuccessful people) toward his goal. All of a sudden a problem, obstacle, or trouble, appears. This would-be successful person stops his progress and focuses all of his attention on the problem at hand. He completely loses focus on what his desired goal was and instead, becomes a problem solver.
Unfortunately, life is filled with problems and challenges that can get in the way of your progress toward goals. If you just solve problem after problem, you'll never achieve any of your dreams!
Next, let's see how the successful person handles her life. She starts out the same as her unsuccessful counterpart-she sets a goal with action steps. She datelines the action steps and starts the processes necessary to become accomplished.
Now life is not partial-everyone gets their fair share of problems on a regular basis. As a matter of fact, the bigger the person, the bigger the problems that will come before her.
The BIG difference between successful and unsuccessful people is what they do when faced with problems, obstacles, and challenges that come before them on the way to their goals. THE SUCCESSFUL PERSON KEEPS GOING AND DOESN'T ADJUST TO THE MOMENT!
That's right! Utilizing all of the resources available, the successful person attempts to handle the problem to the best of her ability and then, she keeps going. Even if the problem isn't completely handled, she will do the best she can and stay focused on what she wants-to accomplish the goal not just handle problem after problem.
Using these two people as examples the outcome for each of their lives will always be the same. You can check with the unsuccessful person today, next year, or twenty years from now and ask, "How is the progress toward your goal you set...?" His answer will always be, "I'm still working on it because I've had to deal with...first".
Checking in with the successful person and asking the same question, her reply would be, "Oh I've already accomplished that goal and many others after that. As a matter of fact, I'm working on my biggest goals right now".
Now, do you have any questions? No? Good, because I do. How is your progress going toward your goals, dreams, and ideal life? Are you making regular and consistent progress or have you become just a problem solver? Don't fret, if you're out-of-step with the people who are accomplishing things, "It is never too late to change!"
Decide what you want and regardless of the obstacles in your way, start progress on a daily basis to make it happen. Don't totally ignore the problems as they come before you. Instead, deal with them the best you can, but keep focused and going toward your ultimate goal.
I don't mean to make success sound so simple because it's not. It takes constant work toward a worthy objective and that can be hard. As I've said before, "To become successful may take some work and discomfort, but nothing compared to the work and discomfort of being unsuccessful and struggling through life." So, take it easy on yourself and accomplish your goals and dreams, and along the path remind yourself, "Adjusting to the moment can be dangerous!"
Until our paths cross down the future road in life, I am still
In loving service,
