Are You Connected?
Have you ever tried to turn on a lamp that wasn't plugged in? What happened? Of course, nothing happened. If the lamp isn't connected to its power source, no matter how many times you turn the switch on-nothing happens. The same goes for you.
Many people go through each day focusing with great anticipation toward the end of it. They are working at jobs or businesses that are not part of their life's passion. Although the reasons for working at something other than your life purpose are vast, the most common is, "I've gotta pay the bills."
If a person is doing something he or she isn't passionate about, that individual is actually living life as an imposter. This individual, who is working to pay the bills, is living a disguised life and can never really experience what "real" life is meant to be.
How can you get connected to your real self? There are three ways you can start living as the person you were meant to be:
Discover your life passion or life purpose. You can take my "Purpose Finder Exercise" in my book, Breaking The Money Barriers. This simple 10-minute exercise has helped thousands of people discover their life purpose. If you haven't read my book, contact me and I'll provide you with the exercise free of charge.
Another way you can discover your life's passion is to try many different things. Too many people become stuck in routines. They sit in the same chair, participate in the same daily habits (good and bad), work the same job (good or bad), and do repetitive behaviors with the same results.
By trying many different things, you will develop more knowledge about yourself and life to help you discover more of what you like and what you don't like.
Consider changing some of your daily rituals. Sit in a different chair, eat a different meal, talk to a different neighbor, etc. The change will stimulate a new aspect of your personality.
The last way to discover your life's passion is to think of activities that cause you to lose track of space and time. When you participate in activities about which you are truly passionate, you enter into what is called, "the zone." This zone occurs because you are actually doing what you love and loving what you're doing.
- Keep upgrading to your next level of life. Never become comfortable. Just like all of living nature, life is meant to expand and continue to get better and better. The same goes for you.
- Rely on a higher source. Surrendering your life to a higher source (which I call God) will keep you connected to life beyond the limitations of the physical world. Most great people who have accomplished phenomenal feats in life have all depended upon and given credit to something beyond themselves.
Many people have commented on my teachings and writings. So many times people will declare my work to be "life changing" or even "life-saving." Well, I do have an ego and appreciate the compliments, but I feel the need to be honest and confess, "All I do is sit down in front of my computer, say a prayer that God gives me the knowledge that is needed by the people, and presto-out comes the words from my finger tips." I too enjoy the information and find myself often not being able to stop writing out of curiosity. I get excited to see what knowledge will be revealed in the next sentence or paragraph.
Yes, my life and everyone's life has a specific reason for being. We are all part of God's Master Plan and you can discover your part by surrendering to God. To surrender to God is easy. Just take a deep breath, and as you go through your day, no matter what comes before you, give thanks to God. By giving gratitude (regardless of good or bad events) the outcome is always positive in the long run.
Remember, no matter what you focus on, that is what you get. Become passionate about focusing on the miracle of life and that is what you will experience-miracles.
Well, I trust you will think about this week's message and practice the parts of it that resonate in your present life. You have the power to experience so much good, but first you must get connected.
I also challenge you to play a game. Play this game for 24 hours. It is a simple game with very unusual results. Here are the rules:
- For 24 hours, exist with the internal knowing that everything is all right and God has chosen you to do a special job on the planet. Feel as though you were personally chosen to fulfill this one task for God in the physical form of life.
- Since God has chosen you for this job, pretend in your mind that nothing can harm you. Everything good and bad are all part of God's Plan for you.
- Live this one day as if it were your last day of life. What would you do? Who would you call? What do you want to experience? Do it-just remain ethical-after all, you are God's chosen one.
- At the end of the day, just before going to bed for the night, quickly write out a list of all the miracles in the past 24 hours for which you are grateful. It is important to note every little miracle that you can identify as well. So, if you thought a particular meal was tasty-that's a miracle you want to note.
- Finally, if you enjoyed the exercise, consider doing it again tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that, until it becomes an every day occurrence. When you are living life according to the rules of this game, you are experiencing life for what it is meant to be-miraculous!
Until we experience another day of life together, I am
In loving service,
Dr. Michael J. Duckett
