Uh-oh. A Trojan that tracks your porn surfing habits and posts all the juicy details to a public website and demands that you pay $18.00 to have them removed. Just how sick is that? The Kenzero Japanese Trojan virus installs itself on PCs using a file-sharing service called Winni, reportedly being used by up to 200 million people. According to reports, Kenzero, otherwise called the Blackmail Virus, posts browser history, illegally downloaded porn, clipboard content and favorites to a public website. Right now, the Trojan specifically targets those illegally downloading hentai (anime porn), apparently a common practice in Japan, so those who don’t share this fetish may be safe – for now. What security experts are concerned about is Kenzero’s potential for a large-scale tracking of users’ porn surfing habits and having all these details available for the world to see. Or maybe just about anything even remotely controversial that you have in your PC – random musings about love, sex, lust, your friend, neighbor, professor. Or maybe screenshots of your chat transcripts with your YM, Skype or Facebook contacts and then uploading all these to the Internet or anonymously sending these to your parents or significant other. The icky possibilities of having your darkest secrets exposed are endless. The only way to delete the incriminating evidence is for you to pay up, but even that may not be a good idea… The scammers demand that you pay $18.00, payable by credit card, to have the incriminating details removed, but if you do, your credit card information will be sold to the highest bidder who will attempt to extort more money from you. Fortunately, the Kenzero Trojan requires a good dose of stupidity on the part of the user for it to operate successfully: A user must enter his contact details as part of the hentai download process. Now, some would think that no one is stupid enough to surrender personal details while downloading pirated software, yet according to reports, some have actually fallen prey to this tactic. The Kenzero porn Trojan is just one of several malware classified under ransomware used by the Internet bad guys to extort money from users. In March, Fortinet reported a surge in this type of scamming. Examples include the Vundo Trojan, which causes pop-ups for rogue antispyware programs or denial of service with some websites; and the Krotten Trojan, which disables PC functions and demands that a payment be made to a Ukranian mobile phone network. Another Winny spread malware is Ika-tako, otherwise known as the Octopus Virus. It replaces your files with photos of octopus. The Ika-tako virus has reportedly infected some 20,000 to 50,000 computers and the sad part is that, at present there is no known fix for this malware.

Re: Stopping Drive-by Spam Re: Stopping Drive-by Spam - [quote:2bijpsoh]One was extremely graphic porn images that I hope I zapped before too many visitors ran across.[/quote:2bijpsoh] [quote:2bijpsoh]Thanks to those of you who have have been reporting questionable posts to me. Your comments in the private messages section are appreciated. Also, for your convenience and to save you time, you can report the spammers by clicking the "report" icon that appears in each post, to the left of the person's avatar. It is the exclamation mark inside of a triangle.[/quote:2bijpsoh] Still why I think we need to have more global moderators. As I pointed out in the thread about that, if you (GT) don't get here quick enough or if you aren't around on certain days then something like "extremely graphic porn images" could just sit here on the forum for everyone to see. Whereas if more of us could actually delete posts it would be zapped as soon as one of us saw it. Plus, it saves more time. Reporting posts and explaining why, or sending you a PM about someone takes extra time. It might only be a few minutes a day but it adds up. But if I could just hit delete and be done there's barely any time wasted. And it's a lot less work for you. I know you probably don't mind doing it but I am sure having some help would be nice. Like I said before, every forum I moderate or have ever moderated (except this one) has global moderators. I see no reason why we can't do it that way here too.
Re: We are more richer today than the generations before us Re: We are more richer today than the generations before us - Hi Tanny, Hebglish... Franglaise... Chinglish... Here in Japan we have "Japlish" - badly translated Japanese, or strangely adapted English used in Japanese sentences and often unintentionally hilarious...

Meaning: More traffic (any traffic) will end up with more surfers who have the toolbar installed, which improve your Alexa ranking, and go below 100,000.
Re: NEW VIDEO - Getting bigger clients - Ask Evan Re: NEW VIDEO - Getting bigger clients - Ask Evan - Great questions! I have similar issues as I turn my attention to providing English language Internet services to the Japanese market... I made my first contract for an English language site for a Japanese client last month. I also have a potential Japanese partner in mind, but it's very early days. In my situation and market, a partnership is essential, I think. I like the idea of "wedge products" with high quality delivery - just the sort of thing that would be appreciated here in Japan. I wonder what kind of software development your newsletter reader offers...
