Paypal to let you shop, pay bills on TV

Soon you will be able to shop and pay your bills through your TV remote control. Online shopping behemoth Paypal has partnered with FourthWall Media and Canoe Ventures to roll out TV shopping or T-Commerce.

First glimpsed at the Paypal X Innovation conference in October, the TV Buy Button allows viewers to access digital wallets to instantly buy stuff they see on television.

"We at PayPal believe that the wallet should live and will live 'in the cloud,'" wrote Osama Bedier, vice president of platform, mobile and new ventures at Paypal in the company's blog.

Bedier said increasingly enabling the television to have access to the Internet will pave new ways with which companies can sell to users directly. An example would be a husband watching TV and seeing a popular TV host wearing a pretty dress or a piece of jewelry that he though would be a perfect gift for his wife. With a few clicks on the remote control, the viewer can instantly purchase the item through his Paypal account.

The TV Buy Button is part of the bigger picture of TV application developer FourthWall's enhance binary interchange format (EBIF) platform. EBIF applications and widgets, designed to promote an advanced interactive TV viewing experience, have existing cable TV customers like Comcast, Charter Communications, and Time Warner Cable, as well as major set-top box vendors.

Paypal's TV Buy Button will work through set-top boxes and existing remote controls equipped with EBIF.

Re: How will an african make money truely on the net? Re: How will an african make money truely on the net? - Hi From what I understood, if you are verified with Paypal, you can receive payments into your Paypal account and withdraw money in this country if you get their debit card. I will make further enquiries as there must be a way, there are many South Africans doing business on the internet. I know that other African countries such as Nigeria are unable to use Paypal etc. but don't think it applies to us here. MichelleJ
Re: Facebook now accepts paypal Re: Facebook now accepts paypal - Thanks for the heads up about Facebook using Paypal. I'm pleased to hear that because I prefer to use Paypal for online business and want to try Facebook ads sometime soon.
Re: Paypal process $315 million in payments per day. Re: Paypal process $315 million in payments per day. - Thanks Yinka. The article received some interesting comments. I use Paypal a lot and it really made my IM life a lot easier. Sure, Paypal is far from ideal in its customer relations department, but overall, it has made a big and positive difference to my online business.
Paypal now Available to South Africans Paypal now Available to South Africans - I don't know if there are many South Africans on this forum, but recently Paypal announced that South Africans can now receive payments from them. They have done a deal with First National Bank so all that needs to be done is to open an account with this bank and you can receive money from your Paypal account. This is great news as it opens up a lot more opportunities for those of us living in this part of the world. MichelleJ
How To Add A Paypal Button To Blogger How To Add A Paypal Button To Blogger - Hi Brendan, The blog is looking good. If possible, try to post something on it every day. You can vary the length of the posts, just something short when time is tight. There are two parts to getting the Paypal code on your site. First is getting the Paypal code! Second is getting it on your site! HOW TO GET YOUR PAYPAL CODE 1. Log in to Paypal 2. Click Merchant Services 3. Find the Key Features box on the right and click Donations. 4. Donations Page 1: Fill in the fields with your Donation name and a ref no. (the latter is not necessary). Choose a "Donate" button - I suggest the one with the pic of the credit cards beneath. It is up to you whether you "encrypt" or not. As you do not have a website there is no need to go to "Donations Page 2" for "more options", so you can just click "Create Button Now". 5. On the new page, click "Select All" for the "HTML Code for Websites" box and copy and paste the code to your blog. HOW TO GET YOUR PAYPAL DONATION BUTTON ON BLOGGER 1. Go to your Blogger.com dashboard. 2. Click the "Layout" tab. 3. Click "Add A Gadget" 4. Scroll down to HTML/JavaScript and click the + sign. 5. A small screen will pop up and you can PASTE your Paypal Donation Button code there and add a title if you wish. 6. Click SAVE on the small screen. 7. Now, back on the main screen you can preview and then SAVE. If all has gone well, you should now have a Paypal Donation button on your blog. === Best wishes, David H
