How to Get Started with Blogs for Real Estate Marketing

Real estate agents have a number of online real estate marketing options available to them – Websites, articles, Twitter, Facebook, and more. One really effective real estate marketing option is a blog. By starting and running a blog, real estate agents can generate leads and build relationships with prospective clients. Here is a simple step-by-step guide to get started with blogs for real estate marketing.

Step One. Decide what you want to use your blog for. Is your blog to help you generate leads of people who want to buy homes? Is your blog to help position you as an expert for people who are selling their home? Is your blog to help you build a relationship with previous clients who might look to sell a home in the future? There are several purposes and your blog should have one primary purpose (although you might use your blog for other secondary purposes from time to time).

Step Two. Figure out how people will get to your blog. How people find your blog will depend on your purpose. You might want to have your blog appear in search engine listings on Google, for example. In that case, identify a keyphrase (such as your city plus the words \"real estate agent\") that might type into Google when they\'re searching for someone who provides your services. Plan to build your entire blog around that keyphrase – include it in every blog post and maybe even in the title of your blog.

Step Three. Brainstorm content. One of the biggest reasons for blog failure is that people simply run out of ideas to write about. Avoid this by brainstorming blog content ideas for a minimum of 3 months. Better yet, plan for a year of blog posts. Not sure what to write about? The answer is simple: Figure out what your target market wants to know and then write blog posts about that. You don’t have to plan to write every day, but be sure to add content at least three times a week.

Step Four. Sign up for a blog. You can use a free service like Blogger.com, Posterous.com, Wordpress.org, or Tumblr.com. These sites make blogging really simple. Or, you can buy your own domain name and some hosting and set up a blog pretty affordably.

Step Five. Start blogging. Blog consistently. Blog engagingly. Blog to add value. Keep your blog up to date. Consider pre-writing a few blogs and keeping them as drafts so that you have some spare content just in case your schedule fills up and you don\'t have time to write for a few days.

Step Six. Build a community. You might not know this but blogs are social media. They are designed to build community with followers, comments, and conversations. So make sure that you enable people to follow you (with RSS feeds or a subscription newsletter), encourage comments, and make sure you reply when people do comment on your blog.

What\'s next? Just because you\'ve started a blog doesn\'t mean your real estate marketing efforts are over. They\'ve only just begun! Use your blog as a destination for your other marketing efforts (both online and offline).

Blogs are a great way to build content over time and to position yourself as an expert to your target market. Follow these steps to get started with a blog for your real estate marketing.

illegal signs illegal signs - I've heard of this type of Marketing done a lot in the Real Estate Investment world. Typically the posters are put up on a Saturday evening in high traffic areas with the intention to get exposure from Saturday right through Monday morning when the city workers then take it down. I know there are fines involved but not sure how much. I also know typically the neighborhood gets into action and the RE investors typically get more calls from angry neighborhoods than actual leads to buy homes at a discount. It's a cost of doing business for them.
